I'm guessing it stands for transition, but not positive.

Wrong!  ... and I am not referring to the photo. 

Tranny - transition is where the slope goes from down to flat to up before the jump.  Where you land is called the "landing hill".  Basically it is the transition from slope to jump.

I respectfully disagree.

I've always known the landing to be the tranny. as in its where you transition from the air to the flat.

Although in the pipe the transition would be the curve in between vertical and flat.

i think the pipe is the best example, i've never heard of the landing being called the tranny, but skiing lingo is never really set anyway, everything gets called different things

you guys are both right and wrong because tranny can be either on the take off or the landing.
Two examples of ways I use the term:
"Jump a bit further and you'll hit better transition."
"We need to fix the tranny on that jump."
