To start this off I'm scared shitless of breaking my neck skiing. I'll only try throwing inverted tricks into pow for this reason. Are there any neck braces for skiing (like a Leatt is for biking), that will help prevent neck injury?
Haha fuck you. I guess I should probably tell you guys that I'm scared of neck injury because I have a quadriplegic uncle who broke his neck diving when he was about my age. Because I have that actual connection to neck injury I'm just scared of it.
neck injuries are definately not something to fuck around with and they are a risk when skiing. but i have no idea about neck braces. in all seriousness if you learn your trick well on a tramp and then into powder you are gonna be okay. its when people aren't confident and don't commit to a trick is when they end up landing on their head. im not saying thats always the case, but it usually is.
Yea I know what you mean. I'll try anything that's not inverted in the park without too much fear but as soon as I think about flipping and it's not into pow I lock up. I guess I just need to man up. Haha.
i ride motocross and nowadays most tracks wont let you ride without a neckbrace, i love them and couldnt see riding without them. I would never wear one skiing and i do doubles... so coming from another person paraniod about breaking my neck, i say you are fine. If you are throwing inverts, you should know what the hell you are doing... aka throw it in powder first! i landed most inverts first try in pow, there isnt much of a reason to wear a neckbrace skiing, to break your neck you have to overshoot the largest jump in your park and land right on the centre of your head, that is very hard to do!
