I was babysitting my neighbour recently (she’s 5), we were drawing, and I was having a hard time thinking of anything to draw. So i decided to start sketching myself sketching and it just became a sketch of me sketching their living room. Her parents got home a little while later and this was what I had done.

I do agree.  it was only after I uploaded it and put it on my laptop.  to see it in a different light.  it seemed to look better on the LED monitor I was using for color...

open up picture in illustrator click live trace, more or less done, all you need to do is edit some nodes. YAY FOR CHEATING!

live trace doesn't always do what you want. there is a time and place for it, this was not it. that took a long ass time to do manually.

1 - Rough sketch hand drawn with blue colored pencil
2 - Final outline with standard pencil
3 - Scanned into computer
4 - Separated RGB channels
5 - Deleted the Red and Green channels, kept the Blue
6 - Tuned for contrast to sharpen the darks and bring out the whites
7 - Painted in Gimp (Photoshop)

Make sure you go to a really good custom studio that can help you out on making sure it translates to a tattoo well.
