Twixtor speed ranging from 2-20%.

Bit of warping in a few spots but nothing too bad.

I know for real. This is the best Twixtor I have seen, the vast majority of other attempts I have seen have horrible distortion.

he did a lot of extra work within AE as well to make twixtor look this clean. we have been playing with it for the past few days and to capture water so well with twixtor is really hard to do...

still had some weird warping/morphing stuff going on.


but ns could learn a lot from that in terms of how to shoot without ABSURD amounts of weird morphing going on.

Can someone explain twixtor and just exactly how they get those slow motion shots? And what with the morphing?

well first of all, to understand true slow motion, you simply shoot at a super high framerate, and then play it back at a slower framerate. those super slow mo shots would be several hundred to 1000 frames per second. but when you play those frames back at 30 frames per second, or 24, it obviously slows all the motion down.

twixtor fills in those missing frames with what it "thinks" should be there. the problem is sometimes your computer guesses wrong, and thats when you get the weird shimmering or morphing or whatever. because they arent actual frames, just the computer filling in what it thinks should be there.

Is there a way to use twixtor and not get the morphing? or do you have to be like a twixtor genius to figure that out?

I have a t2i and would love to get those super smooth shots but that morphing isnt really worth it in my opinion.

i mean i havent used it personally, but from what i can tell, static camera shots, and more solid backgrounds seem to help.


its also easier with something like skateboarding or bmx where there arent a lot of particles to predict their motion, like there is with the spray of snow or water. it seems to struggle when its got to predict where individual droplets will go, or flakes of snow.

but as far as i can tell its less knowing the program, and more knowing how to set up your shots to make it easy for the program.

How would it fair with say flying birds or folding ducks? For a hunting edit?

Forgot to ask. Can you use it with imovie or do you have to have FCP? I used to have FCP but my version stopped working for some reason.
