Yeah, Stanford's campus is fucking amazing. And leaving home you'll get used to. That school/region has everything you could ever want, and it's pretty urban (for me, this sucks, but whatever).

Stanford definitely has access to tons of outdoors stuff. They rent out a cabin at Lake Tahoe every year, and you can ride at any of the areas there, and get cheap passes and such. The nightlife is good (for an Ivy League caliber school), I'm not sure why you don't think it is, but the kids there definitely party.

I'm applying early to Colorado College, which is an awesome school, and applying regular to Stanford. Good luck getting in there, I know I'm not too optimistic.

yeah

i know stanford will be fun, because every college has parties, but dartmouth is one of a kind

although i see the frat scene maybe feeling small by the end of my senior year but nobody seems to have an issue with that

hey i'm a junior but would like some info...if anyone can spare some

it's early i know, but the colleges i'm looking at are westminster, lewis and clark, colorado college, UBC in the okanagan, and Whitman, which of these are GREAT for skiing AND for academics

and for westminster, on a scale from 1 to mormon, how mormon is the college(no hate intended)

CC is unreal. it really is amazing, beautiful campus, the block plan sounds great, small classes, really really strong academics. not the best for skiing, but its like 1.5 hrs away from key and breck and the vail resorts

We have similar tastes. Of those, the strongest academic are Whitman and CC, and the best to ski at is Westminster. I'd say CC has pretty good access to skiing though, with buses available every weekend, and every four weekends you would get 4 or 5 days off. Sounds awesome to me.

I just applied to Westminster, and it's not that mormon, all the devoted go to BYU. The admissions councilor gave handed me a poster of the college in comparison to 9 of the closest resorts....they know how to cater to skiers. CC is in Colorado Springs, so who can complain. Whitman, Lewis and Clark are kinda close to Mt Hood, but that's about it. Salt Lake City has the most skiing opportunities by far. Colorado's dope though, don't forget.

same deal with dartmouth. spencer wasn't ready to make any kind of early commitment. brown and stanford offered me spots, dartmouth was being gay, and princeton said he could maybe get me something but nothing guaranteed before nov. 1st

ah that's too bad man. I didn't get supported in the fall though... by some freak accident I got support three weeks before April 1st. If I were you I would send my applications into those schools anyway and let it play out.

yeah i can still get support at brown if i don't get into stanford early and since princeton is only regular i'm gonna continue my correspondence with spencer.

i don't know what to do about dartmouth. it was my first choice but apparently they got some kid from NZ with a 6:04 so the coach has super high hopes for his recruiting this year. since that kid was retarded he was looking for kids who were shitty rowers but who would boost the academic index so that he'd be able to take the 6:04. it's just a bad year for dartmouth. last year i was exactly what he was looking for
