All Year Ski

So i'm in this engineering class and we spend the majority of our senior year comprising a project and designing something. I had the idea to make a ski that you can use year round with some sort of interchangeable base. Something you could use on snow, grass, and sand. I didn't know if ns had any thoughts or info on this. Or maybe even a better idea?

They weren't too hard too build if you have the right machinery, came out a little too heavy though would be better in aluminium or Carbon Fibre. I can send you the designs if you want.

You should probably come up with like some skid plates for the edges for making tight turns... Makes sense, if you really wanted to get into the whole "All Year Ski"

Trialled a few different things for break designs, used some mountain bike V brakes which worked pretty well. What do you think, brakes on one ski or both?

Well what type of breaking are you thinking about?

Just the brakes that come down, after your pop out of ur bindings?

Or just breaks on overall stopping, while your still in the bindings?

Don't have to worry about the breaks that come down if the ski comes off as they just roll onto the side and stop. You can stop them on wet grass by putting in a skis but the doesn't work on other surfaces.

I originally designed them to kite ski with so stopping wasn't a worry, could fit brakes really easily though
