Rossi FKS touring add ons?

Heard about these on TGR, from my understanding it is like a super low profile trekker that fits in fks's and look pivots.Anybody got any info on these? I'd be stoked if it was true. Original TGR thread:http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=194146

Can anyone recommend the Marker Barons for touring? I don't really need the DIN of the Dukes (normally ski at 10) and I'd rather have something that's a bit burlier than Dynafits. Also touring in FTs - bad idea, or OK if I'm not gonna be going out every weekend?

p.s. +k to anyone who can find a good deal on Barons online.

Dynafits are far more durable than any Marker binding...

I've heard that Dynafits have problems if you're going to be dropping cliffs (pulling out, exploding etc). From the reports I've read, the Marker Duke / Baron are a bit burlier. The tradeoff is that they're heavier as well, but that doesn't matter so much to me because I don't anticipate doing really long tours.

from what i understand the barons are crap cause they're more plastic, dukes are more metal so they're burlier and better

No wayyy. Dukes are plastic shit. Dynafits have a lock on them so that there is no release when you really need it

..what about when you REALLY need it? Does the lock mean there's no release at all? Also, aren't Dynafits only compatible with certain boots?

I'm open to suggestions - can you recommend any Dynafit bindings for light touring as well as alpine use?

Yup. A lot of times you're skiing lines you can't afford to pop out on...

As for models, I don't know. I can't afford a pair.

yes, for sure - what else? dynafits that rip out or will rip your leg into pieces.

Now that is just straight up cool.

But i would definately prefer Dukes over Dynafits. Dynafits just seem to small and flimsy to do any sort of charging on.

dukes: resort skiing/light-medium tours/charging

not to be offensive in any way, but just curious;

Higher dins for more charging i understand, but just staying strapped in like a block of concrete is never good imho, and yes, i understand that when riding big lines and falling it's crucial you stay in your skis and try to recover, but theres no point in staying strapped into a ski once it has twisted out your knees, you're never gonna recover a fall once you broke or tore something ....

+in an avalanche it's actually better if you eject out of your skis....

Yes there is always that risk involved...but it's better to fuck your leg than it is to lose your ski and bash your brains in and die.

Also, just because the binding doesn't release doesn't mean you can't lose a ski. All it does is eliminate pre-ejections.

i put about 100 inbounds days last year on my dynafits, and 40 the year before. also dropped cliffs up to about 30 feet. mrstskier strikes out again. and if you ski every day you want light gear, every ounce matters to some extent 100 percent of the time.

Do you need Dynafit boots for all Dynafit bindings, or are there models which are compatible with traditional alpine boots?

you need dynafit compatable boots for dynafit bindings. unless you get boots with interchangeable blocks you shouldnt use dynafit boots in regular bindings because the rubber soles make it so your boots dont release smoothly from the bindings.

Like if you make the sloe length of the trekkers long enough so the heel doesn't come all the way up?

Set up the Trekker a little too long for the binding (but not way too long), and set up the heel & toe wires as far forward as you can. This gives you a little gap between the boot's heel and the dildo.
