artfullydodgedA lot of rainjackets don't have a taped zipper closure because they're overkill for most situations.
CliffyByropersonally i'd say gore tex is overkill too but thats just me
artfullydodgedTrue, I think gore-tex is just part of the White Mountaineering schtick haha. All gore-tex everything.

SupremeDeity$9.99 per roll at a local drugstore is almost extortion, but as an impulsive and impatient person I thought it was worth it.

I love rocks.
no_steezeI've found that using candles and a lighter is no substitute for a ptex gun. I've never had a gun repair rip out but I've lost a couple candle drip repairs over the years. It's often worth investing in a gun, especially if you were skiing anywhere out west this season...
.Rybak.are you able to use a hot glue gun with ptex?
Chubz.I havent bought this yet..but im on the line about it.
I really want it but i cant justify spending 40 dollars on it.
If it was like 25..it would already be mine
should i buy it?

Laurent.Get the old vintage Nikon straps for which I do not know the product code, I use them on everything from leica's to hasselblad's to Konica's.
They are simply divine.
Bonus points if they have blood stains from a war photographer on them.

JakeSmithIf you try and make one it will look like shit, it will fall apart, and you will feel dumb. Unless maybe if you have sufficient sewing skills and can get the right hardware. I made the mistake of trying to make one
I like the Canon ones from my Eos rebel from the 90's. It has a similar type of strap to the one laurent posted, the strap is like a seatbelt but make from tightly woven cotton threads, it's not too stiff or scratchy like a lot of new straps and it has no metal fittings unlike laurent's which I prefer.
