get Final cut pro. for most things final cut express will work though. it is much cheaper. but no matter what you do buy a MAC.

final cut pro is good for ski movies, for tv shows and shit like that they use Avid.

a number of companies use computers out of their homes just like many of us do. And again, a number of the companies use Premier,however there are a ton of other programs that also go along with Premier to edit. For example, using premier you need Premier, photoshop, and a few other programs for graphics and titles. Then again, alot of people prefur Final Cut Pro...

actualy many hollywood studios are leaving avid for final cut pro and now that there is fcp HD there will be even more switching.

Yeah, there was a good point made up there.. If i'm trying to make a really good edit i use lots of photoshop, some flash or other 3D animation stuff to mix with premiere. It just gives you the ability to greatly improve your video.

over 80% of studios still use avid, FCP has not bitten too much into their market but Id say either go with avid or FCP if you are serious about editing

Don't be mistaken about Final Cut Pro though man. It is just as compatible with Photoshop as Premier is.

well, i have windows and im not going to go buy a mac cause i obviously don't have enough money for that.. so i was really planning on getting adobe premiere.. but is it really neccesarry to get photoshop too?

i mean.. im soooooo into editing its ridiculous but i always used to use my friend's editing system (dont know the name) and i just bought Pinnacle Studio for 100 bucks so i could quickly make like sponser tapes and shit.. but for the movies im making, i need a really good quality one, which is why money doesnt matter to me at all

u dont need photoshop for premiere. i dont know what u would do with it that u could use it in premiere unless u plan on over laying images of ur video.

go to www.journeyed.com and look around, if you are a student in any grade, highschool, college or whatever, you qualify to shop there for these awesome deals. Take a close look at avid xpress pro and after effects, with those two programs you would have a sick setup

Film companies can use whatever they want for the first edit. Alot of companies say they use FCP, but that is for the rough cut. Then they import the list to a nicer system, like Avid Symphony or editing software that they have tailored for thier own company (like dreamworks or pixar). Then they convert the files to 2k or 4k and burn to film or project digitally. Either way you don't need that kind of picture quality, but it is nice to have the scaled down tools in the scaled down version of the editing software. That's why avid is so dope and clean.

umm, i also heard that if you use AVID, it takes a shitass long time to learn how to use compared to Adobe Premiere.. is this true? and if it is, is AVID worth taking the time to learn to use or is adobe better?

photoshop works with any editing program as long as you save your still in the right format. and pinnacle studio isnt that bad to work with, you just need other stuff to go along with it like flash or afterFX if you wanna get creative with it
