Prisoner Dilemma (Homework Help)

Prisoner Dilemma Using Theories

Describe what each theory would do (or should do for that matter) in regards to prisoner dilemma.

1)Liberalism
2)Realism
3)Neoliberalism
4)Neorealism
5)Constructivism
6)Radicalism
7)Marxism




This is going to be my quiz tomorrow in class, so any help would be appreciated. It's not my major, just a gen ed requirement, so I don't really care if I absorb the info or not.

So far, I know that Realist would both (or both should) speak, using their ideas when applied to prisoner dilemma

Neoliberalism is the exact opposite of what that guy said. It's about liberalizing markets and increased globalization and decreased restrictions.

Here is my opinion:
1)Liberalism: Argue that the prison life is unfair, immoral and should be eliminated. He may kill himself.
2)Realism: Accepts the fact he is in prison. There is no cause, but he simply ended up here. He will do nothing.
3)Neoliberalism: Prison is a economic thing. He sees he is being held back from profit. This kind of thinking will pay himself free.
4)Neorealism I have absolutly no idea what the hell is neorealism. You can get more real.
5)Constructivism: Will see that prison is about paying for your crimes to society. He will purge his sentence and try to get out a better person.
6)Radicalism: Claims incarceration is social control. He will attempt to escape and seek vengeance to everyone involved in the judicial system
7)Marxism: Claims that everyone is equal, so either everyone is in the can, or nobody goes, including him. May appeal his sentence.

i understand the idea of it completely. but like i said, i think it's a dumb way to go about it. that's not really such a crazy thing to say, and i can back up my opinion

i just graduated college with a 3.7 (not saying that's super impressive, just.. why are you doing the ol' call-my-education-level-into-question?) if youre insinuating that i dont understand the model, well.. fuck you haha. my whole problem with it is that it's painfully generalized and essentialist

The quiz was easier than expected, as in much easier.

We did an in class version of prisoner dilemma, using realist and liberals. Then we had to explain what happened, and what should have happened, using only liberalism, realism, neorealism and neoliberalism.

Basically, liberals are supposed to not talk in theory, because it betters everyone, while realists are supposed to talk in theory, because it betters themselves, but in class, people from both side talked and didn't talk.


As for Gnarton's response, no, I was not actually going to use that on a quiz, I do care about my education and grades, but when its 3am, and that's the only response I get besides what a dumb quiz, it brightens up my day, and made me want to study more.
