Total noob coming into this sort of thing (which is how I start most projects, jump into new water and learn everything I can). I want to start a website for my photography (jwalterphotography.com, hopefully...). Where should I buy my domain, and how should I buy it? Does paying 11.99 for the domain on godaddy allow me to build a website on it, or will I have to do other stuff? What do any of you use for hosting/ which have the best prices.

Usually domain names are pretty cheap, however, you also have to pay for the server space, this usually ends up costing about $60-$80 per year depending on the server and how much space. Another option is to use google's blogger service - create a blogspot blog and then use Google Domains (or google sites, I can't remember the name of it) to create your domain name - it costs $10 - and then you have it directed to your blog, which is actually easier to maintain than a regular html website and you can still do some pretty sweet stuff if you practice and play around with it.
Domain is the set of all possible input values for which a function is defined. wat
Thanks man, I'll do this, sounds like less of a hassle haha
For the equation y=1337x, the domain is all reals.

I'd recommend just using blogger for a little while before paying for the domain just to be sure you like it and can do what you want with it - although you do still own the domain for a year, it's a lot easier to just not buy it yet then to move it around after buying it.
