Future ski bum wants to know where to go this winter

I'm pretty set on going somewhere in Utah or Jackson Hole, WY. I've heard excellent things about Alta, Snowbird, Brighton, Solitude and PC. I'm not a huge park skier though. Anybody who has skied in Utah I would really appreciate any information you have.

ski bumming in whistler is the way to be. they have been making it harder, but its still so easy and awesome for anyone who knows how to poach decently

just look at charley ager, he was so good at ski bumming, he went pro ski bum for life

Average snowfall, cost of pass, cost of room, population, vertical, and a relatively accurate description of the mountain and town. I'd say that's a far better jumping off point then a thread full of peoples opinions based on the one, two, or at best three towns they've personally lived in or had significant experience with.

colorado is awesome and i ski here all the time cus i live in aspen.
having been to both alta/snowbird and jackson hole. go there. they are fucking sick. great snow, great people, and it is all much cheaper than aspen. alta is a paradise with only skiers, what more could you ask for?

ski bumming in alta is the ultimate. you dont need a car, and bars you walk to you will probably ski to the lifts too.

alfs restaurant, or lifties get to live in, also at all the lodges (peruvian, gmd, alta lodge, rustler, snowpine) a winter spent on the mountain in alta is priceless.

powder mag can suck a dick.

I live on the Wasatch front, i would say go to alta if your not a huge park skier. They have an unreal amount of pow always ( receives more snow than any other resort in utah ) And there a re Natural features that are literally insane! Check out this Edit Pfoulger made this season, just to let you know.

This is going to be the 11th (out of 12) year where I haven't workin in the winter. I ain't no trust fund baby, I live in nice accommodations, own a car and keep it insured year round, don't live in debt, and travel around as I please. You may want to rethink what's possible. You don't need über rich parents to do what you want, one piece of advice - dont live in expensive places like whistler.

Salt lake it pretty central and the rent isn't too pricey, especially if you're not afraid to shove 6 or 7 people into the same house. Plus if you want to travel, Tahoe is only 12 hours away, same with Montana and Hood. Canyons is part of the Epic pass this year, not a bad deal if you want to ski Colorado, too.

I'm from the East coast but went to Utah last winter. I went to park city and it was amazing. I ski some park at home, but didn't do too much there. Even though park city has an unreal park, the rest of the mountain is insane. Also, you can ski deer valley (with no snowboarders) and canyons, which are both only 5-10 minutes from Park City. Both of which I highly recommend. Also, Park City is less than an hour from Salt Lake City if you are flying there.
