So I went to the orthodontist...

and he said that im going to have to get 2 of my teeth pulled and get either braces or new fake teeth. my problem is that for 2 of my teeth i dont have adult teeth and eventually my gums are going to grow over my teeth, and the teeth above the 2 teeth i need to get pulled will start to produce a vampire affect. this is really shitty because i dont wanna get my teeth pulled. do any of you NSer's have this? and for the record braces are going to cost $6500 and the fake teeth cost $4000 each so $8000 for 2 new fake teeth. thats like my ski stuff for a few years.

dude I was in that exact position last year. I was already rockin the dracula fangs, but they got taken out and I have braces now. Same story. it's fine, teeth getting pulled is no big deal, and braces can be a bitch at times but I'm cool with them. just look forward to the day they cone off :)

I only had to have them for like a year and a half, so it wasn't that bad
One if my friends had them for 7 tho and now she has them again cuz she like ignored what they said, so op if u get them I would suggest u listen to them so that u don't have to have them forever of waste your money

I sorta feel you. I am 21 and my dentist wants to do this:

- Braces

- New night guard (I am with him on this... I grind my teeth)

- Go through the 2 hour process of fitting me for a custom mouth guard since my boil and bite isn't working properly

- Recheck the fillings my last dentist did to see if I even needed them..... yeah, go figure.

Yeah I got mine took off for about a month now. Definetely stoked about it, it's a nice feeling and my teeth looks very nice now. It's very worth it, even though it took 3 years for me. But I thought my teeth looked goofy, I thought they were too big hahahaha but they're just fine!

I don't know your financial situation but since braces aren't exactly the most desired thing for 21 year olds, check with your dentist about i braces, my orthodontist said this is what he was doing for some of his older patients that wanted straight teeth but didn't want regular braces. i braces are metal braces w/ wires and shit but they go behind the teeth not in front. Definitely worth asking about.

Damn you must grind them real hard. But I don't see the necessity of braces in your case. Braces won't help the wear of your teeth... I think

Yeah, I didn't really understand why I needed the braces. Something about my teeth being scrunched together or some shit.

The night guard and mouth guard I get though.

This happened to me too. I am missing my upper eye teeth, so I got the baby ones pulled (as well as a few other baby teeth) to get braces, then they just molded over the fangs to make them look normal. It's not that bad.

samsies, but i grinded my teeth in my sleep so much that i needed to get caps, so my front 4 teeth are essentially fake now. the procedure was so weird, my mouth was numb and the dude was drilling the shit out of my regular teeth but i couldent feel it. so much better now that it's done though

I'll tell you why you need them because any person who ever goes and gets checked by an orthodontist always gets this line, " Well your teeth are pretty good, but we can do these corrections [ fill in bullshit here] and we can give you perfect teeth "

I don't know one person who went to the orthodontist and said the orthodontist prescribed no treatment. I know people with pretty much perfect teeth and they got braces.
I thought I had good teeth except for some spaces in the back and now I'm getting braces to fix that because if I don't supposedly my teeth are going to wear down very fast.

You don't want braces.

I had braces for 6 years. When you first get them in, they're really painful and it's really hard to eat. Then, you have to go back to the orthodontist every month to get them tightened. This hurts for a few days as well (not at all after year 3 for me, however.) Then, to correct your bite, you have to put rubberbands that come down from your top teeth to your bottom in weird triangular patterns. On top of that, they rub against the inside of your lips and cut them and shit. You can put wax on the sharper parts, but it makes you look like a fool. They also look bad.

Then, once they get taken off (which fucking sucks), you have to wear retainers. You can get permanent, or removable. I have a removable on my bottom teeth. You can't eat full apples and shit like that with it. You have to cut it up, or else they'll rip out. I forgot this once while blazed, and ate an apple and ripped it out, which also put a long scratch on the inside of my lip. I had a removable retainer on my upper teeth. They're super annoying and disgusting. I never wore mine, when I was supposed to be wearing it at all times. Then, my teeth moved. They started to scrunch together and started going behind one another. I just had to get braces again on my top teeth earlier this week, and now I remember how much I hated all of the flossing and sore teeth.

You don't want braces.

I used to grind my teeth in my sleep.  It was so bad that I actually wore out the bite surfaces on all of bottom teeth and had cracks in several of them.  I had to get all of my bottom teeth re-built before I could get a night guard.  That fucking sucked.

Grind, prep, build up, shape, and grind to re-set the bite.

Fucking sucked.

i had braces and had to get 2 of my teeth built up, so half of them are real and then a bonding over them. it is so worth it afterwards, but during it suckks, building my teeth up took 2.5 hours of sitting a chair drugged up.

I've had 10,000 dollars worth of dental work in my life, no joke. I've had retainers in my teeth and spacers and shit since I was 4. I had 3 teeth in two places, so it went, baby tooth, a random tooth, and then my adult tooth, so I had to get that surgically removed. but my teeth are fucking straight as a line so its all good. plus my dad had awesome dental insurance for being in the air force.

For what its worth, when my dad was a kid his parents wouldn't spend money on his teeth. Now he is 45, brushes and flosses every day twice a day, but has had 8 root canals, along with new crowns all the time, and he just got braces last month. My advice after seeing his mouth, get the work done while you are young. His teeth grew in crooked and so messed up that it would just cause cavities all the time, no matter how well he brushed.

you really look at them with a negative point of view, dontcha? sure braces suck - but in the end they're totally worth it. the pain isn't that bad. i had braces for 4 years and i'm glad my parents forked over the money to get them. i had those fang teeth sitting way up high in my gums above the rest, and a huge over bite. if i didn't get braces, girls right now would cringe and walk away at the sight of my grill. getting them in high school is prime time cause shit is awkward already. for the first year i wore my retainer all the time, but now i just wear it at night and its legit. soon i won't wear it at all. i have a gorgeous smile that i love to flash at the ladies. thanks mom n dad.

Same thing is happening to me. I still have a baby tooth and I have one fake tooth already. The adult tooth above the baby one is deflecting off the baby tooth and going into the roof of my mouth. I have to get the baby tooth pulled and the fake tooth redone. Then on top of that I have to get braces for two years to pull the other teeth into place again. My teeth were Good until I was 16 now they are all crooked and what not. I don't get it. Now when all of my friends are getting theirs off, I'm getting them. Fuck.

i had a dentist fit me for a custom mouth guard for lacrosse. did not take anywhere near 2 hours, it was actually kinda cool and they were so nice, and the mouth guard turned out sick and i love it, it makes lacrosse so much better.
plus, it was covered under insurance

i might have to get a root canal, and the worst part is that im really hygienic, i brush twice everyday (no exceptions) and every few months i go through a flossing phase where i floss religiously but i still have cavity riddled teeth,

they are pretty white though

yeah mine are like this too. my teeth are so flat...like dinosaur herbivore teeth :( they are so sensitive and if i don't brush them for like a day they get extra sensitive and painful. teeth suck :(
i am lucky they are straight and even.

haha why would you go a day without brushing your teeth anyway?

my k9's were really fucked up, braces probably could have fixed them in a month or 2 but i kept putting it off because i didnt want braces in high school. pretty stupid. but i got invisalign and they are pretty much as perfect as they are going to get, but they arent perfect perfect. its kind of like the vampire affect you guys are talking about.

theyre cool till you get them. the 2 weeks before they get put on, you get spacers which kill for 2 weeks or so. then you get braces on. another week of pain. then you have to limit the things you eat or you break a bracket and the orthodontist yells at you. and braces make u look bad.

I had a similar thing happen a few years ago but i had lost 2 baby teeth and my new teeth weren't growing in because of a tooth in between them. i had to get it pulled and since it wasn't showing through they had to cut my gums open and pull it out. i was very calm and relaxed so the orthodontist decided i didn't need the anesthetic. all he said was "if it hurts put your hand up" my hand was flying up and down the entire time. i was 11 years old and that shit hurt like a bitch.

Same issue with me, then I found out I had acid reflux, and at night the acid was wearing away at the enamel on my teeth. Might wanna get it checked.
