Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., blamed the Bush administration for any lack of oversight leading up to the Gulf oil spill. The Obama administration, on the other hand, is blameless.

From Talk Radio News Service:

“Many of the people appointed in the Bush administration are still burrowed in the agencies that are supposed to oversee the [oil] industry,” Pelosi said when asked if Democrats could have prevented or mitigated the crisis by keeping a closer watch on the industry.

Added the Speaker, “the cozy relationships between the Bush administration’s agency leadership and the industry is clear…I’ve heard no complaints from my members about the way the president has handled it,” Pelosi stated.

On Friday, the Washington Examiner requested that Speaker Pelosi’s office release the list of Bush appointees to whom she was referring. We’ll let you know when we hear back.

$700 billion spent eh? Considering nowhere near that was spent on banks and over a hundred bill has been paid back, it ain't what it seems boy.

Granted, tarp is still pretty stupid - just encourages more bs in the future.

I donated $50 to his campaign. This summer... I am sending one envelope a week to him asking for that $50 back since he isn't doing what he said he would and is basically more of the same as Bush just he is black, has a black wife, and is a "Democrat" which is another name for a "Republican" because the parties are such a clusterfuck of being just like each other.

Bush was spending 3.2% of GDP, while the Obama fiscal plans exceed 4% of GDP. That's a ton more.

2008, Bush budget deficit was over $450 billion (about $450 billion too much). 2009, yes, 2009, deficit was $1.41 trillion. Yes, just a drop under one trillion more. Oh and for this year? Projections for over $1.5 trillion deficit. So in just over a year, a larger deficit than Bush's 8 years. Bush was a bad spender (and a bad prez), but Obama? Whole new level.

Obama is such a joke. I hated bush, and many people did. But they hated him for the wrong reasons. And the ones that hated him for the right reasons bought into obama actually providing real change.


We just got more of the same old shit, just with a big increase. Fuck the spending seriously. Our country is fucking poor.

See, I would generally agree with some stuff you might say, if it had merit. First of all, just because I'm fervently anti-Obama does not mean, in any way, that I was or am pro-Bush, so you don't need to feel justified in hating on Bush. I was not a supporter ever, and am not today. But I don't swallow all that misinformation that is trotted out by people, mainly on the left to far left.

"Bush still left us with the mess in Iraq/Afghanistan that has cost us trillions"

A mess? sure. Cost us trillions? wut? trillionS? No doubt it has been expensive, but two wars (rationale and opinion aside) have cost just over $1 trillion. 1 trillion vs 2 trillion (which could then justify the trillionS) is a big, big difference.

So the total cost of two wars, in almost 9 years (starting with the war in Afghanistan in '01) has been less than Obama's DEFICIT (read: not total spending) in his first year alone.

And your garbage with tarp is just as foolish as it was with the war. The bonuses amounted to less than $250 million, not billions. The lobbying spending using tarp money was just as infuriating. Now, that was some fucked up shit, but if you are going to be pissed (as was/is about 99.99% of the country), at least get it close to right. Second, a good chunk that went to banks has been repaid. Yes, it went to the same fucktards that screwed us in the first place (I said basically the same thing earlier), but, once again, in comparison it ain't shit compared to Obama's 2 budgets.

this is stupid.  people are spending way too much time and energy trying to blame someone for the spill when instead they should be trying to find a solution to the problem.  On that note, i have not heard anyone say that the bush administration is directly responsible for the oil spill but I have heard talk that the bush administration made it so that off shore drilling stations did not need to put something called an acoustic regulator (automatic shut off switch) that could have stopped the spill.  these things are required by law in oil rigs in Brazil and Norway's north sea operations.  BP even uses the shut off switch in other off shore rigs.  The article im posting is really biased but there are some straight facts in it if you look hard enough.

Actually he had open donations, meaning he didn't ASK for donations from oil companies, in fact he did quite the opposite, he opened up his donations to the public and didn't ask for donations from big companies. The fact that big companies donated was of their own volition and because they wanted to, not because asked by the Obama administration.

Orly? Do me a favor -- break down Bush's expenditures into an itemized list, and do the same for Obama.

Take out any spending Obama has done on the Wars -- as those were Bush's gift to the nation.

Take out TARP (i.e. don't use the Heritage Foundation's graph that ignores the carry over from the end of Bush's admin)

And we can argue the merits of legitimate spending between the two presidents. There's nothing wrong with spending money to improve the country.

and everybody who knows a little bit about economics is pretty aware that making debts as a country is not only a bad thing. in fact, they have to spend as much as possible. thats why a lot of gov. projects arent that great.

It really doesn't matter. The economy is slowly getting better and when it does it will all be credited to Obama..in the short run. However, years down the road when we realize that we shouldn't have "kept printing off more money" and that inflation has completely raped us up the butt, we will all realize Obama's true effect on our country.

Dude the economy is not getting better. It's been getting steadily worse. On the very surface that the public watches yes, it's getting better. But we did the same thing to "fix the economy" that cause the economic meltdown. We need to learn not to be so fucking naive and to just go through the recessions when they start, use them to change our policies and come out the other side better off. Instead we print a shit ton of money, the economy temporarily comes back, and people are so fucking retarded they call it success. Now the next time we'll already be in that much worse shape.

As it stands right now there is literally no way we can possibly pay off the national debt ever. We've printed so much money that the Usd is worth 1/20th ish of the pre 1913 dollar. Were fucking up bad economically. Obama, bush, clinton, bush, all the modern presidents that didn't stand up for real change should get the shit kicked out of them or forced to live in ther arctic circle.

I'm just gonna say that I'm a Canadian and I don't give a fuck who created this problem, playing the blame game won't help anything. What I do give a fuck about is see this problem solved. Seriously? 40+ days and this thing still isn't plugged? The lives of thousands of fisherman are completely ruined, an ecosystem supporting thousands of species is completely fucked and may not ever recover from this, thousands of species that live specifically in the gulf are fucked with a major population crisis, etc etc. I don't care who caused this, I care about who fixes it.

Kennedy was the only one I can think of that tried to do anything about it, and he got killed over that and some other stuff. From woodrow wilson on we've basically had nothing but scumbags in the whitehouse. Kennedy was about the only legit one. I can't even believe that people are so ridiculously naive that they actually believe that they are voting into some huge change for president. Whether it be dem or rep, both are doing a lot of similar things on the big issues. They both piss on the constitution, increase control, print tons of money, increase the national debt, rape baby seals. It's just a lose lose both ways. Fuck every idiot that was in the streets holding posters screaming we want change.

To be completely honest, I couldn't care less about what newspapers on the other side of the world are saying about my president. I care about the ACTION he is taking HERE in MY country.

The fact that you classify politicians as "Obama-Guys" and describe them as somebody who "tries something and fucks up once in a while" and then on top of that say it is a good thing, proves you have little to no value to add to this conversation.

I'm glad Austrian papers are portraying Obama as Samuel L Jackson and increasing our International Street Cred. I guess they forgot to mention the $1 trillion increase to our national debt since he took office and the plethora of other actions (or lack thereof) that are contributing to his 1-term face-palm presidency.
