PIPE in Edits???

So I see tons of good park skiers making edits and putting them up here and I watch them of course but how come I rarely if ever see any shots of skiers in the pipe in their edits.  I know places like PC, copper, Mammoth have real nice pipes amongst other places and it seems like most park riders just focus on rails and jumps.  I think it would good to see some shots of the pipe cause I feel like there are a lot of possibilities for sick stylish tricks to be thrown down in the pipe.

you make a valid point and i agree, but i think park is more fun to watch and to ski than pipe. just my opinion.

I disagree. Because Tom Wallisch, Henrik Harlaut, and Phil Casabon don't ski pipe, it deters a lot of up and coming freestyle skiers. I personally suck at pipe, because all the pipes on the ice coast are well...icy so I never try in it. But I think that halfpipe skiing is still cool. I mean the rivalry between Tanner Hall, Simon Dumont, and the french dude hypes it up.

yes but it is much more fun/less tiring to hit a jump line than to take 5-7 hits in the pipe in a row where if you don't pump hard you won't get enough air to do your trick.

and whoever called me a faggot, he did claim the shit out of that i wasnt being a dick.

pipe is a dying part of our sport. just like vert skateboarding, the streets have taken over. that and backcountry (cause skating doesn't have bc and bc is tooooooo ill to ignore)

Cause most kids don't have a pipe at their mountain..The closest pipe to my area is on the otherside of the state..We have none..idk if we even have a quarter pipe in our area..

because unless you ride a big resort all the time, you rarely even see or ride a pipe. No one is good because they dont have the practice that they do on urban, rails, jumps, and BC

pipe is the funnest shit ever. It definitely takes a lot more work to get decent air but I would love to see more pipe in edits.

Pipe is my favorite feature in a terrain park even though I'm not very good at it, but sadly none of my friends want to do it. Hopefully pipe will be seen in more edits because it for sure deserves recognition.

yeah honestly i dont enjoy watching it nearly as much, and its probably for the same reason i and others dont do it much, good pipes in good shape are really uncommon compared to rails and jumps. so personally i dont really mind not seeing many pipe shots in edits

that said i fucking blow at pipe

i personally dont ski pipe bc my edges are always too busy being park edges to make it up the icy walls of the michigan pipes. well that and good luck finding places with a pipe worth your time other than nubs/mtn

your pipe run at wsi was kinda sick.

I really only ski pipe in the spring when its slushy otherwise its a pain in the ass when you slip out on the ice walls.

I personally don't enjoy it as much even though I have a great one (breck). I don't get the same thrill and enjoyment I do out of jumps/ rails. I do have a ton of respect for pipe skiers though because it is so easy to deck or go deep even on a well made pipe.

i got really into pipe this year... It gets really fun once u figure out how to ski it, but it definitely was sketch the first few times i tried it.  pipe, in a few ways, can be safer than park, in that if you figure out how to pop well, you could land upside down and still be fine... once i figured that out, i got a lot more ballsy with it.

i think we don't see many pipe edits because: a. you only have so many different angles [follow shots being incredibly difficult] to choose from. b. the pipe doesn't change, and we like to see different features being used. and c. with a lot of the new guys drifting away from pipe, towards park, urban, and back to big mountain, there are few people leading the pipe scene...

I was also thinking this recently. But I think the reason is that to get pipe shots worthy of putting in an edit, it takes a lot more dedication. Pipe's a completely different aspect than jumps or rails, and it's not as chill. Spending a day in the pipe isn't nearly as fun as spending a day with buddies hitting a jump line with some rails mixed in.

But that said, it's not a good enough excuse. A couple pipe shots in an edit would just be sick. Not like a full pipe edit, just a shot here and there. Maybe a creative angle or something. If I could ride pipe I'd try that.

I agree with OP & I don't understand people hating on skiing pipe. Come Spring or Summer, a well groomed pipe is may be the greatest thing on earth. Fun on another level.

Just because wherever you normally ski doesn't have a nice one doesn't mean that the whole aspect of skiing is 'gay'. There's plenty of room to get creative and stylish - but the only real exposure it gets is competitions, so it comes off as just a jockfest, I guess. Still, it's never good to be close-minded about something skiing-wise, because it probably means you're missing out on some fun shit.

I like to watch a variety of different types of tricks n an edit, I think pipe can only make one more interesting. I think one reason pipe isn't so popular though is cos it is practically impossible on detuned rail skis and i think most people would rather ski rails than pipe. I know I would, I would like a second pair of skis especially for pipe but i can't afford them, i expect am not alone in that.

I agree! I love skiing pipe and i would do it every day if i had the opertunity! I prefer watching pipe in edits because it can be so unique to the person skiing it. 
  If i could i would defo get a pair of pipe skis because it really sucks when u have been hitting rails and you go into the pipe and your edge doesn't hold very well and also the slow base.
it would be sik to see more pipe in edits for sure!!!

I think park builders should get more creative with their pipes if they could keep it safe enough for their insurance but like put a rail, tube, barrel on one hit or have a spot where you could ride out of the pipe and hit a drop back in. something.  I would like to see casabon and harlaut ride pipe cause i bet there is some steezy shit that hasn't been really thought of cause it doesn't get much spotlight from the skiing community outside big events
