Ski Poles

Is it dangerous if I use my "normal" length ski poles for freestyle skiing, or do you think I should cut them down to make em' shorter.

It's not dangerous what-so-ever. The only reason for having short poles is they're lighter and easier to move around, it has nothing to do with safety. That being said, it's just personal preference, try it with the long poles first, if you don't like it, shorten them.

they dont break as easily when theyre short. i find theyre the best when theyre just long enough to push with your palm

long poles get in the way for me all the time on rails..i prefer short ones

back in the 06-07 season I used to rock 50 inch poles, just cause they were the only size left of the pole i wanted. They had huge grips and i have tiny hands, so to do grabs i let go of the poles in midair and let them hang by the wrist-straps. A few times i got the poles tangled up in my skis and couldnt grab them and get them out of the way in time, those were some pretty bad crashes.

I'm sorry, I lol'd so hard when I read this. Guess I'm reliving my perverted high school days.

Anyways, it's all preference. I personally don't use poles unless I'm riding powder or trees.
