Grinding rubber?

I found a small box and it is metal with rubber covered over it. could i ride this? or do i have to pull the rubber off?

Tape it, and go really fast into it so you make  sure you can get past any strange sticky spots, it's a good idea for any good rail....

OP, just use lots of lube and you should be good. They slide really well with lots of lube. ;)

It's not gonna feel as good with the rubber but just use some lube and you should be fine. If it's good the first time and you wanna keep hitting it then I would take off the rubber
