i just bought a 2008 honda accord coupe v6 ex-l model. $20,888 plus tax / title. I paid $10k cash, financed the $10,888 and paid tax title on my own. Powertrain and tranny have 7 year / 100k warranty.

of all my friends who are under 20 and obviously went way out on a limb for a vehicle and bought more than can afford (aka car was basically going to get repo'd if it wasn't for help). 3/4th of them probably have parents take over, and put their name all over the insurance and the title to make things absolutely the cheapest possible (insurance again), or had co-signers to get a better interest rate to justify dumping another 4k on a car when in reality you only saved $237 in interest or something.


you are looking at a dodge neon, and i'll be the first to say the car fucking sucks. its a dodge first, and its a neon second. the fastest depreciating car in the car industry.

i bought a honda because resale is fucking nuts (aka way high), the warranty on these is awesome, 2.9% interest was icing on the cake. insurance and repairs are CHEAP.

the car is a piece of shit, but yes its built for speed. so insurance will definitely not be cheap.

plus its rwd so it sucks extra ass in the winter time, and the tires bigger than a 16" tire so his winter tires will not be cheap.

plus the insurance on the IS300 is way more expensive, if not down right unaffordable, and repair work is obviously more expensive.

i dont recall stating my car is fast, nor even stating what car i drive in that post. 

rwd does not suck ass in the winter, only if you suck ass at driving, its just as good as fwd, just a little harder to control, which IMO is good for learning drivers.

is300's are nothing special at all, yeah its a lexus, but that doesnt mean shit, there are plenty of pos lexus's out there, its what poor people buy when they wanna seem rich.  half their cars are basically toyota's with a different interior and badge. 

mercedes and bmw's are nice cars, but that doesnt mean you cant find 1000 dollar mercedes or bmw rust buckets that will cost close to nothing for insurance.

if my child went from saying i want a pos neon to saying i want a decent reliable lexus/ pretty much a toyota, id be happy for him not having a horrible taste in cars. and putting my money to good use.

and you have to understand that his parents could be pretty well off, so buying him a 10-15 grand car has the same effect on them as a poor family buying their kid a 2 grand car.
