I agree with everyone who thinks the actual JOSS features were a little lacking this year. That is not to say that they weren't enormous and unbelievably impressive, I just didn't find them as creative as the other years. Also, I was a bit disappointed by the rail garden, judging from the caliber of the features we are accustomed to seeing at JOSS I was expecting some bigger and more creative jibs than a down rail and a long box.. Granted the marshmallow jib was very cool.
As far as edits, team America is still my favorite as of now. The tricks were definitely better than team DU and Europe, and the overall feel of the edit spoke to me more as well. As OP mentioned, the small connecting shots really helped the overall impression for me. I also like DU's editing a lot too, I felt the edit had a great feel to it and kept with the northern lights theme the entire time making it a bit more than just pure ski porn. For example hitting the marshmallow feature at night was a nice touch in my opinion. Europe's was the most lacking for me, I found their intro kind of awkward, and I expected more out of oscar on the urban features. He had a shot of a 2 out, and of a lip on straight out. I don't necessarily want to see a million switch ups, but if you're going to keep it simple maybe do some presses or taps or something. However, the pallet shot was sick, although snowboarders have been doing that type of jib for awhile now (obviously) and the shot where they are all walking away from the chopper definitely had some epic factor to it.
I look forward to the rest of the edits!!
