As a result of winning, he got to choose this week’s topic, which is:

Photojounalism

So Eli wanted to throw a little twist on this week’s topic, to see how everyone responds and what is submitted. Last week was a little off, in everyone interpreting the topic differently. So we’d like you to attach a story to go with your photo. There won’t be a limit on the amount of words you can use, use your best judgment. Use this website to give yourself a good idea of what should be expected: http://www.pictorymag.com/showcases/london/ . If there are any questions, please post in this thread to clear it up.


Guidelines:
-you may post 1 PHOTO ONLY
-you have TWO WEEKS to capture your photo, and supply a brief story
-no hating on photos, constructive criticism only
-we will have a voting thread to determine the top 5, then we will vote again to find the winner
-post your own photos
-click on embedded photos before judging, NS drains the color from them
-winner chooses the next topic
-you can not win 2 times in a row, you can win twice, just not in a row
-PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go out and shoot! Do your best to not pull any files because it goes with the topic. We’re looking to have this be an active photography contest.

I have been giving out NS stickers to the winners (and sometimes other goodies if BigJim hooks it up), so hopefully there is some incentive to get busy! =)

Have you ever wanted to get that perfect shot? The shot that when you look back to the screen on the
camera, you get shivers down your spine...This is one that I recently took on my pup "Dutch," The dog
is so hyper she can't seem to sit still for any matter of time. So for that exact reason when I turned down
the camera to see the last picture taken, I shivered a little because I captured the exact image that I set
out to shoot, isn't that what photography is all about?

I really like it but i think blending the fur by his right leg would look cooler giving it more of a 2d wallpaper look with a 3d hea idk might look cool

This is from FIRST, a robotics competition. Finals during the Regionals competition, this match determined who got to go to Nationals in Atlanta.

Blurb: Come May, you realize that ski season is over, and you die a little bit inside.  This was taken on April 30th when my ride for jay peak bailed.  Time to sesh a little astro turf and pvc.  This was a sketchy frontside but what isn't sketchy when your skiing without snow right?  From a normal person's perspective this picture would look really dumb.  After hitting this rail walking back up and hitting it again wtihout snow for an hour, you feel pretty dumb.  But it's all worth it to ski.

Well, it descends into UC Berkeley. And UC Berkeley is filled with hippies, environmentalists, and other such dickfores, including a bunch of people who just hate mountain bikers. The land it is built in was set aside as some sort of special environmental studies land for the UC Berkeley environmental students, and they get super pissy if anything "disturbs the nature". It's patrolled by overly-enthusiastic volunteers from the school, most of whom have grown to hate mountain biking more and more as they get more and more into the psychopathic world they live in.

Also, it was built after the land was given to UC Berkeley (it's owned by the college) and therefore, if it were legal, it would be a huge liability to the school because of how sketchy it is. You fall left, you'll still be tumbling 400 feet later, unless you impaled yourself on a stick.

This is a shot I got of Tanner Hall immediately following his SuperPipe win at the 2008 X Games. As usual it was Dumont vs. Tanner, and the excitement in the air of who would win was thick. Tanner went on to win the event but as soon as the judges announced his winning score, some people started boo’ing unhappy with the final scores, and I think a few snowballs were thrown. I snapped a shot of Tanner as he was conversing about the results from the event. He just has kind of a somewhat disappointed look to him in the photo, and I like it so much because it was the complete opposite of the extremely passionate and excited Tanner we’re so used to usually seeing. I felt like it was a very honest moment I was able to catch.

Alright since I haven't gotten a camera yet I'll pull one.

So being an unemployed photographer in a small town I spend a lot of time browsing craigslist for odd jobs. One day I came across one that was simply labeled, "Photographer". The description was something along the lines of, "Need someone to shoot for a few hours on such and such date". I thought what the hell, I'll email the guy. I got response and it turns out the guy was a director from NYC who was looking for a behind the scenes photographer for a documentary about NBA stars.

So because I stumbled on a random craigslist ad I spent the whole day shooting Dolph and Danny Schayes at the Landmark theater and Carmelo Anthony building, working and meeting with pro's from all over the country and contributing to a documentary that will be seen by thousands of people.

Living in the midwest, our skiing season lasts but a few months. And every year, the season seems to be shorter than the one before. But the only time that you, me, or anyone could ever realize this, is as they are driving up to their home resort, for the last time.
