YES!, there is a happy ending!

apparently the kid turned himself in this morning to whistler ski patrol crying, and carrying the movements. I honestly believe that if this kid was a newschooler, the thread and most of the intellegent posts on it really helped him to decide todo the right thing.

as far as punishment goes, i have decided not to press charges only because i have the skis back and i dont want to ruin the kids life, but ski patrol is going to decide on the punishment with the maximum penalty being a lifetime ban from whistler.

Thanks everyone for the vibes, advice and stuff while this was still going on, hopefully everyone else on newschoolers besides these two kids is aware that stealing skis is one of the lowest things that you can do, and that taking away somebodies ability to ski is awful, (especially a fellow ns)...

not everyone is fortunate enough to buy 5 pairs of skis, believe it or not... some of us save up forever to buy new skis and so when we are finally able to purchase them its a huge deal... dont strip that away for somebody.

the right thing is to not steal ppls shit, yes it would be hard to return them but if he would have stolen them from the right person it could have meant no ski season for them or a ski season skiing someones crappy summer skis because they couldnt afford to buy a decent pair of skis to replace them

i'd press charges. letting them get away with this isnt the best thing to do knowing that they might do it again. scare the piss out of them by pressng charges and odds are they wont touch something that isnt theirs again!

getting banned from whistler would be a pretty good reason to kill yourself if you lived there. maybe the kids arent posting here because they both slit there wrists with their ski edges in a bath tub.

well do you know WHO it is? i mean most skiers who wear saga and stuff are seen around the park and recognized so have you seen them around the park at all?

i just meant that generally somewhere who wears saga is a park local and where i ski i know almost everyone in the park. so what im saying is since he skis park alot maybe youve seen or talked to him before

Oh well I don't know that many people cause this is my first year park, but I know a couple people. It's not anyone I know that jacked em or it would be all over their facebook being like oh my god im banned from whistler and shit..

Okay, someone has to address this.  This is most likely not a felony.

A felony is a crime the federal government has deemed egregious enough to deserve possible punishments of the death penalty or minimum imprisonment of one year.  This is stuff like robbery, murder, or rape.

You can't really expect sympathy for the "I work for my skis" statement when your dad have set up worth well of a 1000 dollars. Movements are the most expensive skis on the market pretty much

fair, BUT

1. i was not fishing for sympathy i was making a point about stealing so dont take it out of context.

2. its not like my dad pays for my stuff, also he works a backcountry tour guide so he ends up havings a lot of nice ski equipment, haha dont make too many assumptions.

also, yes i know that it would not be a felony, i was just trying to explain something... i forget excatly what it was.

Funny that the first thing you mention is "robbery" what would you call taking someones skis that do not belong to you.. I don't know what the laws are in Canada but here in California anything over $400 can be charged as a felony.
