I'm 18. The first album I ever bought was RHCP: By the Way, followed by the Clash's London Calling, 25th anniversary edition, followed by Pink Floyd's Echoes.
There's a TON of high school kids who actually appreciate music, but often they don't run in the same crowds as people from the skiing world - they're in the music world instead. However, I still think that there's a ton of people my age who know jack shit about music, and are in serious need of an education concerning their roots and the future of music.
However, I appreciate that you noticed that some of us have some amount of good taste.
Right now some favorite albums include:
De-Loused in the Comatorium by The Mars Volta.
The Incident by Porcupine Tree.
Lightbulb Sun by Porcupine Tree.
Madman Across the Water by Elton John.
The First Days of Spring by Noah and the Whale.
Obscured by Clouds by Pink Floyd.
Black Clouds and Silver Linings by Dream Theatre.
I recommend any and all of the above.
