Anyone here going to school for physical therapy ?

im actually going to school for it, and expect to be in school for 7 years if u wanna have a life in college. I went to WIdener University for my first year, they have a joint program with the graduate school at the same instiution where u can get ur doctorate there. Bio was super hard, and i realized u can major in other areas other than Bio to get into grad school. I transferred this year to Montclair state university in NJ, they have a joint program with UMDNJ, where i can also get my doctorate degree there. Stockton university in south jersey has a 6-7 year program all at their school as well. Id suggest checking out the prerequistes are, and u can pretty much major in anything and get into grad school as long as u ATLEAST have a 3.0gpa. Chemistry is really important, calculus, physics, those are many of the core courses u will have to take. I am now majoring in exercise science adult fitness, where i will fulfill the rest of my prerequisties. Its not easy, but its not super hard yet either. Also many grad school require like 50-100 hours volunteer or work experience in a PT office. I got about 5 years left ahead of me, and so far i really enjoy it, and once ur done u have a DPT, and its a super awesome job too. Any more question lemme know

I have been debating about going into physical therapy. However, after going into therapy for my knee, I realized that most of the time you are working with older people whose only goal in life is to piss the person trying to help you off. I still want to help people out in the medical field, but I want to help people that really are thankful for my time and insight. Also, I want to help athletes perform at their highest ability. I now want to be an Athletic Trainer. Physical Therapists, the ones I have been around, generally stay inside their offices, I hate being indoors for long amounts of time, so being an Athletic Trainer for a high school or something along the lines of that, gives me the ability to work outside.

yeah i just took stat, ull need that too, and some schools u do need calculus, and physical therapists get paid a fuck ton. Over a 100k easily, not owning ur own practice, the guy i go to owns his own practice and makes around 500-700k a year, but thats because he owns it, and just that 1 practice and hired 3 other guys to work with him. U can honestly major in almost anything as long as u take the required courses for grad school. Chem is my weak point, and im struggling with it now, and another thing to keep in mind, try to get atleast B's in all of the required courses for grad school.

well u wont go into any real lfe situations until grad school. Ull be like any college student during ur undergrad degree. U can major in pysc even if u want, thats an easier route compared to bio and what im doing. Chemistry is pretty hard, and if ur looking into majoring in Bio, ur basically taking pre med courses, and trust me its not easy i did it for a year.

yeah, u can major in almost anything as long as u get the required courses from the grad school. But if u go to a school where the entire 6 or 7 year doctorate program is all at that school, u will most likely have to major in either bio or pysch. Bio labs are a bitchhhhhhh

Does anyone know what the PT program at CSU is like?

All righty. So I'm currently pre-med(BS of human physiology major), applying to medical school after the MCAT in June. I've volunteered over 250 hours at a sports medicine clinic for the university of Iowa, shadowing PTs. Its really, really fun and I almost decided on PT but am opting for orthopedics. Know this. I'm still in undergrad, and coursework is a BITCH. Its beyond difficult, and not only that you HAVE to get A's. And its seemingly hard now, i have one of my best friends in medical school, and my brother is in veterinary school and they both say it only amplifies 10 fold. But the reward is huge. If you get to PT im sure you'll love it man. Coursework is your standard pre health program minus the organic chemistry. Which is beyond nice. Anywho. I don't know how much I'm rambling, I'm on mobile. just wanted to give a little input.
