i fail to see how something that jumps over a fence..to only be picked up by the enemy and thrown back over the fence..a crucial weapon for the American military. At least it looks cool.

its a robot that can jump over anything under 25 feet tall?

they mount high caliber weapons on these along with cameras and use them like remote control soldiers....

that thing was about the size of a radioshack R/C car.

also, it has to be able to operate inverted. I.E. it doesnt always land "right side up" after they flip it 25 feet in the air. if you put guns and shit on this thing, it would no longer be able to drive around upside down and shit. making it useless.


also, its not really new technology or anything. they combined a spatula and an r/c car together. its not that hard.


i mean, im not saying its BAD. im just saying its not that great.

they engineered a remote control car that can jump a 20 fucking foot fence, and you don't think they could figure out SOME way to flip it back over if a gun was mounted on it, and it landed upside down?

it really doesnt matter. this car is like two fucking feet long. i guess *maybe* they could attach a .22 to the thing if they really wanted. but that wouldnt be effective against anything really.


its for surveillance. also, making an arm throw something 20 feet isnt a huge engineering feat.


im sorry, really,i know im sounding like a huge dick here. but this device isnt really that useful.

mounting guns on that thing would be wicked, if you put them on the front/back maybe sides of the chassis it could still do the whole drive upside down thing, and with the technology available you could make those little guns silenced/accurate, imagine some little assasin robot hopping a fence in some Taliban training camp at night and fucking them all up, thatd be neat.

I can't click the link on iNS, but it sounds pretty cool. There are already robots with guns though, I remember readin about a project they were working on that had robots that could detect flashes and sound waves to pinpoint a sniper's location; then fire at them/assist the unit they were with. It was pretty damn cool. I'm pretty sure a human actually had to remotely pull the trigger though, so that you would end up with robots killing people entirely on their own.

nope, they can mount a 7.62 (AK-47 round) or a 5.56 (ar-15 round) on it and shoot it fairly accurately...they also mount grenade launchers on them as well, they do it regularly right now with robots that just dont have this jumping feature. its not like they have to mount a full rifle on it.

and they obviously will be able to correct it if it lands upside down, are you serious? i could find a way to do that and im not a fucking military engineer.

this means if they want they can now jump into a fenced property and clear it of threats without risking any soldiers well being.

good to know your information was based on zero previous knowledge though.

people are clearly reading into the demo far too much. its not built to do nothing but jump fences.

Afghanistan has mountains. Say our troops are on 1 side of a mountain, and don't know who or what is on the other side. They can now send this little thing out there to do surveillance, and unlike all the other robots, it won't become useless once it encounters a 3 foot rock. So now they can do things like that, without having to send a few actual soldiers over to discover that theres a group of enemy soldiers waiting there for them.
