have you really considered your options. neither of those are really good! what is your budget and I am sure there is something much better for the price
yes, but it offers HD video as well. It has a bunch of down sides like limited continuous recording, terrible audio, and rolling shutter. But when you way it to the fact that you can get an amazing picture out of it and have access to the use of photo lenses, its super sweet, and for the price its crazy too, quality is identical to the 7D which is twice as expensive, and the 5D mark II and 1 D mark IV
i was considering trading in my xh a1 for a t2i for ski edits, realized that you look very un professional doing video on an slr and figured if i needed to get a video job id need the xh...otherwise i would be considering the switch
Times are changing. I have used the 7d on a ton of paying jobs. All my clients have thought it was cool as hell. I still have my HPX, but I'm finding myself using it less and less and going with the 7d.
Yep, Im in the same situation. I dont use my xha1 as much as my 7D/t2i. My clients love it! DSLR is great for shortfilms, commercials, music-vids etc. But for TV/broadcasting I still use my xha1.
do the DSLRs have auto focus while recording? it seems like they are cool. but, its like DSLRs with youtube mode, i dont understand how they compete with very tech video cameras.
I know the t2i does, but it is incredibly, INCREDIBLY slow and pointless for shooting action shots. You are better off opening up your DOF and, if possible, focus in your shots before you do them. If you got something like a follow focus you can mark off different positions and just shift the focus when you need it. I plan on throwing a rail system onto my rig and mounting a DIY one on there
i've used this camera before, as well as the fx7. they are decently similar, but i definitely preferred the panasonic. there's just something about sony cameras that i don't quite like. they seem almost hastily-made IMO
