Line anthem problems

i have a pair of 171cm '10 line anthems. i've only been skiing them for maybe 4 months and i already have a bunch of gouges in the bottom of the ski. you can see through to the base at one point. i have a pvc rail which i hit alot and ride the regular rails at my park, but that shouldnt make giant holes. also, my friends hit my homemade rail and nothin happens to there skis. anybody else have a problem like this?

if its gouges you probably hit a rock or something if its in the topsheet its just everyday wear and tear

i snapped mine last weekend, 4" back from my binding. cracked the fuck outta the ski, no longer rideable. woot!

it doesnt seem from rocks. the gouges are everywhere and all the way through in some places, ill try and get a picture

Bring it too a local shop that supplies Line Skis and ask them what they think.  if its in the base it's most likely a manufacter's defect because those are some hard skis to break with the double thick edges and all.

Sounds like core shots from rocks - only other guess would be if you're fastplanting onto rails, bc I got some little dents in my bases from doing fast plants onto my backyard rail.

P-tex that shit - if it goes all the way to the core you need to do a base weld, so the ptex will stay. 
Pics will help show the problem better, but that's the best input I can provide fo now..

thats my ski. and there is a little yellow paint from a new rail at my park a few weeks ago, ignore that. but look at those mothertrucking holes

You sure you haven't skied into rocks or have some sharp stuff on your backyard rail?

My whole crew skis Lines VERY hard. I have broken 3 other pairs of skis this year (not lines) and I have hucked 30 footers to rocks and have had no problems. Of all the various brands of skis I have been on Lines seem to have the hardest/strongest bases.

Are you storing your ski in a hot car trunk or inside next to a heater or something odd?

dude wtf..that sucks gotta be a defect if you havent hit any rocks. wiping down your edges after you ride will stop the edges from rusting though, your edges look rusty as hell

im near posotive i havent skied them into rocks. the only things i can think of is roots from cat trails or my homemade rail. but neither of those should have an effect

Dude, I have some K2 silencers that have a few chunks like that. Its because you are not doing enough maintenance. You need to grind and wax the base once in a while, otherwise you get little nicks and scratches, which if slammed across a rail burr, make a huge gash. Sorry to say it, but I think that is your fault.

because they have retro steeeeze obviously. and thanks for the help guys, im getting the holes filled at ski company so ill see if its still a problem after that

I said "GRIND" and wax your skis once in a while. If your bases are peglected, the plastic gets dry and brittle. And if you have a bunch of little burrs and nicks in your dry base, your gonna have a bad time...


The thing that causes what your describing, is rail sliding, which causes scratches and nicks in your bases. If your bases are dry, and you do not grind or file the nicks once in a while, you will catch one funny on a slide, and rip chunks out like you did.

Maybe try more skiing, and less jibbing?

my line athems have held up like shit. all i hit is park rails and jumps and once in a while a pvc rail. but the bases gauge like butter and the edges have ripped out multiple times. great ski but the durablity is lackluster to the max

mine got lodged in this crack of a battleship box. looked like my ski was completely fucked. but... it got lodged right in the butter zone. butterzone saved my ski

My anthems lasted me almost 2 season and held up amazingly. I even dropped a 55 footer on them and only broke a wing off my toe piece. Great skis for sure

My room mates snowboard had odd chunks taken out of it like those.  It looks like a cheese grater did it.  I have no idea what happened, but he had them all over his boards base.  Get a base grind and a ptex and you will be fine.
