Where do you go to school?

Hey guys i have to decide soon where i want to send my SAT scores. i have an idea of what i want to do but not sure where i want to go yet. My first choice is university of utah. then it is IUP (Indiana University of Pen). but im looking for some more options. so here are my questions for you newschoolers. ...

where do u go to school? wat do u go for? where do you ski? how far is it?

century college in white bear lake minnesota WADDUP

I screwed off in high school far too much, so community college was the only choice (I also took a year break after high school and stayed in keystone for a while)

Im an electrical engineering major and this school is amazing for it. They have one of 30 something fab labs (laser cutters, CNC milling machines, etc) so we get to make some awesome stuff

I also ski keystone when I have some free time (free air fare ftw)

other wise its buck hill or hyland

skiing is not really my main priority when its school time, blasphemous, I know

I went to Union College in Schenectady, NY (just outside of Albany). I graduated with my BS in Mechanical Engineering.

We had a ski club that was $20 bucks for bus ride and lift ticket to all the big mountain in the NE. We skied Gore, Okemo, Mt. Snow. Whiteface, Sugarbush,weeknight free trips to Jiminy Peak in MA and 1 night a year trip to Jay Peak for $60 for 2 nights and 2 days of skiing...aww the wonders of college ski club. I wish it was like that in the real world. Stratton, Stowe, and other mountain were driveable to. Everywhere was 3hrs to 1.5hrs away.

Montana State University in Bozeman, Mt.

20min from Bridger Bowl and an hour from Big Sky/Moonlight. There is a free bus to Big Sky/Moonlight everyday though which takes about 1.5hrs.

the real indiana university. haha but furreal its pretty legit ova here. nice campus and sum cool cats if you avoid the frat scene. not much skiing around here but perfect north is an hour and a half away and has a halfway decent park. overall i dig it

fort lewis or mesa state. fort lewis is in durango, which is like and hour from silverton (look it up). mesa state is in gunnison, which is about 45 mins from crested butte. this is all in colorado in case you didnt know. but look them both up..thats where im going. or CU.

naw im not choosing a school for skiing but i would like that to be avaiable

my parents want me to go to IUP cause it is closer to home, but i want to go far away from this shit hole of northeastern PA. plus i  think i really would like to move out west and stay there, i heard it is beautiful and there is actually sun (we have about 30 nice sunny days a year). i have my heart set on U of Utah though. i have the scores and all already. i think that im going to go for pharmacy. i want to go for radiology (i would read x rays, catscans, and MRIs) but i dont want to have to go through 12+ years of school. im also seeing wat else would i be interest in, thats y i want people to post their majors

Go to Boulder I hear its rad there. I've heard tales of 24 hour bakeries that deliver cookies at 3am and of course there is always the gigantic 4/20 celebration on campus. I might try to go there but I probably don't have the money to go out of state so I'm maybe going to go to college in Oakland. Pretty close to Tahoe though. And frisco is supposed to be a good time. I went there once and it was a party.

I go to Dalhousie Uni Architecture school. Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The reason that I'm posting this is that I gave up skiing to come out here (coming from skiing +/- 80 days a years, this was a huge shift). There are two small hills an hour away, but I'm too busy to even consider this.

What I'm saying is don't let skiing get in the way of what you want to do. I used to be as diehard as anyone, but I realized that setting up a career that I love will benefit me so much more than being able to ski on weekends etc. And you know what? I'm probably happier here doing what I love in school than being back home taking general studies with the ability to ski. But that's just me.

i dont know if you call like 5 hours close to tahoe.... but im headed to the U next year, closest proximity to the best skiing.  plus tuition is cheap, didnt have the money to go to boulder and party my ass of which i guess is a good thing

if you're gonna apply to IUP might as well apply to duquesne or pitt.
i go to pitt, wasn't my first choice but then again i didn't really have a choice ha. it's a great education and you have a few places to ski around you. trust me, don't choose a school for skiing especially if you want to go to grad school.

uvm is great
stowe, sugarbush, jay, mad river and bolton ranging from 30 min-1.5 hours away

champlain is here in burlington too and legit ifyour into graphic design or anything like that

I go to the UofU and I love it. Awesome people. Skiing is 20 minutes away and school wise it's very respected.

I go to IUP ski at springs every friday, saturday, and sunday. I could probably ski 5 days a week if i set my schedule up to do so.

ya i live right out side of scranton. and that is wat i heard about the school.

im still considering pit too, my cousin goes there now and she loves it.

and how far of a drive is iup to 7 springs?

penn state main. majoring in information sciences and technology/security and risk analysis. There is a small crappy mountain called Tussey thats like 10 min away by car and 30 min away by bus. There are a few rails and some jumps but if you go up with friends, its a good time.

I go to Boise State University in Idaho. 30 min to local home mountain (kinda lame but fun little hill, night skiing), 2 hours to Brundage mountain (dope tree and pow skiing) and 2 hours from Sun Valley (big resort town, legit ass park and lots of terrain) 4:30 hours from SLT and 6 hours back home to Tahoe.

Overall its a pretty good school, not much of a party scene and theres no greek life (thank god I hate frat bros) Close to skiing, cheap living expenses. Check it out.

i go to boston college for finance and economics.  me and my friends have the sos pass to stratton okemo and sunapee, all between hour and a half and 2 1/2 hours away

IDK about that, it takes 5 hours from LA to SF and only took me like 6 and a half hours from LA to Tahoe. I reckon 3 hours. And Mammoth is probably like 2 and a half. I could go to Sacramento but I don't know anyone there and its probably boring (they do have what is generally considered the best paintball field in the state though). I could go to Humboldt, thats probably close to something, but I hear its boring as shit up there from someone I knew that went to that college.

Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, CA, about 30 miles east of L.A.. Specialty is Econ and Poli Sci. I ski at Baldy (45 minutes away) and Big Bear (hour and a half) west of L.A. We have school sponsored parties every thursday and Saturday where the school buys us alcohol.

Is Baldy cool now? I used to go when it was like one chairlift and haven't been since it got revamped. Is there a park there? I almost went a couple weeks ago because I got my pass to Mt High taken away for 2 weeks but ended up being really busy and just not skiing.

ya only once or twice, it a good mtn if u actually want to ski, not park. i ski at sno mtn (only 10 minutes drive) or boulder (50 min), but i only go to boulder a couple times a year

yeahh i'm not really a park rat so i enjoy it, plus my dad is on ski patrol which = free season pass for me lol my boyfriend goes to bolder occasionally but he lives right next to elk too so its convenient to go there

busses on the weekend


if you have more time (aka: not a science major) you can join the ski or snowboard team and there are vans up every day and they pay for all of your comps and air fare if u make nationals

i go to school in the midwest, its a pretty epic place to be in the fall, awesome parties and of course girls. then I take class online and head out skiing in the winter. not a bad deal. class in the summer kinda sucks, btw i go to university of wisconsin milwaukee.
