So I just recently got a new POV cam. It gives me the option of recording in MP4 or MJPG. I use a PC and first tried MP4 because I was told that was better for PC. I have Sony Picture Motion Browser installed. Came with my HD HandyCam. It couldn't recognize the MP4s. Switched to MJPG. PMB plays the clips but will not allow me to edit them. Says file type is not recognized. Contacted support for the Cam. They emailed me back link to download the Codec. Files still not recognized by Vegas or PMB. Believe it or not, Windows MovieMaker seems to be the only thing that can edit these things.
I am a coach and I take loads of video of my guys. The deal is that I throw the video up on a Facebook group and they download them and create their own edits. All I am trying to do is get the clip size down to 10 minutes so that they can be loaded onto Facebook.
I downloaded the trial version of Sony Vegas Platinum. Haven't had a chance to go through tutorials yet, but at first glance, it seems to be for someone who knows much more about editing than I do. Bottom line is that I am super frustrated with this whole deal. I am supposed to start repping these Cams, but if I can't figure out a way to download the clips in a way that something can recognize and create shorter clips easier, I won't be repping them. Almost to that point right now. The cams seem to be non PC friendly. I am not going to rep a product that can only be used with a Mac.
Anybody else had experience with this? ...and yeah, I did searchbar. Thanks.
