Skiing with music and etiquette

Hello all,

I am curious to find some opinions on a certain matter. Here's an example: You are skiing with one or more friends, you are NOT listening to music but your other friend(s) are. As a result of their music, they cannot hear you and thus, cannot engage in conversation during lift rides and during each run itself.

TO ME, not only does doing so display poor lift riding and skiing etiquette, but it is  also a very anti-social way of skiing. Why not just ski by yourself if your gonna ignore your friends and listen to music? it is rude and disrespectful to be skiing with music blasting while being unable to communicate with your friends during the course of the day.

Granted, i understand some people like to get "pumped up" and "stoked" when they ski, and i agree, but i also think there is a time and place for that (skiing alone) not skiing with friends.

Again this is all my opinion, but I'd like to hear some of yours

My park has speakers in it but it ruins the music when it stops and you hear "if the tip of your ski has the #147 on it, it is not yours. Please return it to the rental counter"

i have mine at the perfect level where they are good to ski with while still able to hear people..plus the shuffle is hella easy to pause.

I have a mute button on my helmet so I can turn it off when I'm not actively skiing.  Works well.

Thank you good sir, i've been tryna think of a way for ages how to be able to control my music (not just volume) w/o getting super complicated...

Is it easy enough to hit the buttons when its in the case and you've got gloves on?

yeah i find it to be fairly easy, might be a lil hard at first but you get used to it and its way better than having an ipod in your jacket

i always ski with one ear in one ear out and just make sure i sit on the whatever side of the chairlift so i can hear them.

listen to it while you ski, take one ear bud out on the lift (depending on which side your friend/ stranger is on) and engage in a friendly conversation

I hate skiing with no music (so much so i even keep a spare pair of ear phones in my jacket) but I pause it on the lift and at the top of the park/line to talk with friends before we point em down the hill. Your not gonna be chatting on the way down and it helps me focus and get pumped up. Music on the lift is just rude! and you don't get to chat with randomers!!

i put one ear plug in and one not in, and with an ipod shuffle its easy to pause my music, not really a problem

i like to put in 1 earbud in my left ear lets say, then always sit on the left side of the chair so the the right ear is open for conversation! or when I rock my icons held by my goggle holder I can lift them up or one ear up. woo

I ride with my speaker earpads that have a nice big button that mutes them, so when im shredding and not talking i get music and when im riding the lift i can chat with my homies.

I like to listen to music while I ski but at the perfect volume so i can here people clearly but listen to music also. Sometimes it is a little mean to listen when your friend has no music with them cause if your blasting it they cant talk to you but I dont do that I know people who do though. Rock on!

My park says you cant have headphones on and you cant go inverted. Ive seen a kid do a double, but on a normal day theres some invertion goin on and nobody cares. same with headphones

i usually go no headphones on the chair, and headphones in if we are going into the park or if i just feel like listening to music. anyways, how hard is it to take your earbuds out of your ears and put them back in? if you have troubles with it you probably should not own headphones or listen to music in the first place
