Final Cut Express Help?

i have my clip rendered in the timeline.
and im trying to get it to fade out with one of the transitions, yet when i go to the transitions they are all blocked and it wont let me use any of them
anyone know why or how to fix this?

i don't know why you can't use them but you could always use the pen tool for transitions

this happens to me sometimes its really weird

but try going to the apple website they have all sorts of tutorials on final cut

Can you do a dissolve? Click on the end of the clip and hit apple+t
Not 100% sure if that keyboard shortcut works for the express version, but it should put a default (dissolve) transition, and since there's nothing after the clip, it will basically fade to black.

If that doesn't work, have you tried restarting the program?
