I has a Chad's Gap physics problem for you

This is my physics problem I have to present to my class tomorrow. Since no one in my school freeskis, I have to show it to you guys first because you are the only ones that can appreciate it. So here it is:

problem/

Tommy Walnuts is attempting to clear Chad's Gap, a skier's mecca located somewhere in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Level 1 Productions tags along and places a cameraman on the knoll to capture the sw dub cork 12 Tommyboy is about to do. The Pretzel man does not want to "break his ankles: like Tanner Hall, or hit the filmer, so he pops off the butterylicious 45 degree lip moving at 20 meters a second. How high off the ground is he after traveling 36.6 meters horizontally? Did he clear the cameraman? Use the following statements to assist you in your solving:

- His Full tilters are not packed w/ dynomite
- His Double Cork does not require extra speed to maneuver and does not create air resistance
- You may neglect the air resistance created by his 4 XL Jiberish Crewneck
- His manager was able to fight off the locals
- Ski Patrol theoretically has yet to blow up chads gap
- No gapers were around to distract him, they all started hiking from the upper-most parking lot
- Level 1 has won the lawsuit against WME and was able to continue filming

Bonus question is shitty. I thought everyone knew that ski patrol blew it up. Jiberish doesn't make a 4xl crewneck either. Size it down to 3xl and you should be set.

well, the question i ask then is
in order to find how high he is off the ground, dont you have to know how high above the ground the lip is?
and how tall is the cameraman


anyways, thats awesome, i wish i would have had some freedom to do my own thing in physics

the ground i believe. my teacher said it did not have to involve relative motion so sorry if its off.
The equations i used were

V(avg)=Delta X/Delta T
A=(Vf - Vo)/Delta T

Nope. Everything you need is there.

But 5m is a little excessive for a cameraman.

I would solve this if I didn't have a final in less than 12 hours.

g is dependent on r (center of earth to center of tom), m1 (earth), and m2 (tom)

so did Tommy eat a big cheese burger before hand?
how tall is he?
where is his center of mass?
also m2 is dependent on v (of tom),

and d (distance tom travels) is dependent on v as well.


things we need are m2, and r.

trajectory problems were my favorite in physics.   I could figure this one out but by no means am i trying to get out a piece of paper  and actually do work.    I like the idea though. good work.

^ i dont think this problem is dealing with the Fgrav cause this is just projectile motion


ok so dont hate if im wrong but i broke it into x and y components and used x=Vinitial(x) * time and y=Vintial(y) + .5at^2

assuming that the acceleration due to gravity is -9.80 m/s^2 and no Fdrag

solved for t in the x component and plugged that into the y component equation and solved for delta y

answer: -8 m from the height he took of from

in order to answer if he hit the camera man you need to know where he is (y) in relation to the jump or how tall the landing is, etc.

You're almost right. 36.6 m from the lip of the jump, Tom is 3.67m above the height of the lip. So, he might have been able to tap the Lv1 camera if it's on a boom...

tom was 3.75 meters (sig. figs, no big deal) above the head of josh berman at the edge of the gap (the 36.6 meters)

ok so obviously i failed this problem but +k for anyone who can help me with my physics


problem:


estimate terminal velocity for a spherical raindrop with a diameter of .1cm. (you will need to estimate the Reynold's number first)?


spent way too much time on this so help would be appreciated

i used to love physics, even tough im not that book smart. i just googled projectile motion sample questions to practice haha. I may even dig out my physics notes if i still have them
