Hey so I started this system where I started putting money away every month to donate. Don't ask me why, but its just something I do. I have 500+ dollars that I want to donate to a Charity.

What are some good charities that are currently accepting donations? What are their causes?
Might be a long shot, but any notable skiing related charities out there? Something like helping veterans or Children get to ski?

my family gives to doctors without borders or you could buy a bunch of porn and send it to the soldiers in iraq/afghanistan for christmas presents they would be stoked.

props to you man! there is one in my area not sure how big of an organization it is but it is society for handicaped..its based out of modesto, ca..just a thought, i think this winter im going go up and instead of hitting the park you can volunteer to help and basically be a guide for those whop are not as we are to ski

Look up a cystic fibrosis group. I will be honest here and it may sound mean, but Cancer has a lot of donation/charity groups whereas things like cystic fibrosis do not. I may also be somewhat partial to it because one of my best friends has it.

local church happens to be a Jehovahs Witnesses Hall, definetly not giving money to it

go to the local food pantry and ask what you could do to help
or what kinds of food they are in need of then go to save-a-lot and buy said food
then for added karma volunteer at the food pantry

even just a hundred bucks goes a long way at save a lot

make-a-wish is great dude, maybe donate to them every so often and sometimes do something more local? like the food shelf idea. 500 dollars could go such a long way for a place like that, and that way you know for sure that you are helping local people who are unable to feed themselves.

not to say make a wish is a bad place to donate at all, but i just feel like 500 dollars would be best served in a smaller charity.

youre doing a really good thing though, thats awesome.

I think the best thing to do it find one in your community. That way you are giving back and supporting your local community. If you start saving a lot and stick with it, you could even start your own charity. Just because you don't have much at first does not mean you cant start up your own, maybe something that you care about and want to give back to. Maybe like helping kids that are poor get ski gear or winter jackets, helping handicap people get gear and the will to ski.

donate to an adoption agency. the cost of adoption is staggering, and your donation would help lower income families with the cost of adoption.

we are talking <20k in some cases to adopt.

trust me i know, my sister, and most of my cousins are adopted.

you know how much money those fuckers have? think for a second about how much money has been donated to cancer in the last year, 5 years, decade, etc. there have been billions, maybe trillions of dollars put toward finding a cure for cancer and what have we got out of it? nothing. those fuckers, they have the nerve to ask for more. it seems pretty clear to me that you can't just buy a cure for cancer, no matter if you've made more money than any organization in the history of man.

Yeah plus most soup kitchens are literally overflowing with food and volunteers on the holidays.

If you do it some other time it would be much more useful.
