I finally made the trip to snowflex in lynchburg, va and it was super dope and I highly recommend it to anyone within drivin distance when no snow on the ground because:

1. Helps you progress very fast
2. 2 straight jumps that can be launched as far as possible.
3. several striahgt rail setups
4. easy to pick up and get used to carpet skiing
5. great quarter pipe
6. great view
7. hot girls

snowflex sure is the shit! i ski on it every wednesday evening when they bring the rails and boxes out at our local slope - it can't be much longer than 100m but it is sooooo dope - you can just shred one kicker/box for like hours without having to stop - just get back on the rope tow and you re good to go!

It almost feels like real snow - and it have squidgy stuff underneath the main carpet so it doesn't hurt we you fall!

only ish that it is really expensive

but you progress soo quick and i have so many new moves in my box of tricks - love it - im glad that the rest of the world is starting to experience the joys of snow flex!

well, if it was movable snoflex, you could swtich it up to different setups. Small kickers, long rails, qp's, whatever
and THAT would totally be worth $1000

there used to be a ski hill in VA with little plastic pellets people skied on. here is the link

                               The hill’s claim to fame was that it was not dependent upon the weather. It used plastic snow. In what would today be considered an environmental nightmare, they coated the slope with white astroturf and dumped on truckloads of slightly oblong, white, plastic BB’s. The claim was that you could ski in any weather, but natural snow would make it better. I remember lights for night skiing, and a rope tow. I don’t think there was snowmaking, but they had to redistribute all those plastic beads that got pushed to the bottom of the hill each day.

i looked into it for a backyard set up material so i emailed them about it. this was the reply.

Thank you for your interest in Snowflex. What you are talking about is the top sliding layer, which we call Traxflex.

However the first question to ask you is what is your budget for what you want to do? As a guide 1no (one) tile of Traxflex (6m x 1m) costs approx £1,000 plus shipping costs. Is that in your budget?

Snowflex/Traxflex is a high performance synthetic surface, purely invented and developed for snow sports. The raw materials we use are the best for the job - highly technical and unfortunately expensive. Added to which the production process is a slow and very specialised one (the machine was designed, developed and built by us and so its the only one in the world)

i can vouch for its legitimacy in terms of progression. my buddy is down at school by there. always been a decent rider but nothing special. well hes been going there all fall and now i wont be surprised if he comes up real big in the future

Oh yeah and to go to this snowflex it is 7 bucks an hour peak and 5 non. Plus you can pay buy the hour. and i forgot about the circus visiting. soo legit

im gonna agreewith everyone else and say its fucking sick.  ive been there three times and every time has been mad fun (except tearing my mcl).  the jumps are really fun because you can go as big as you want, and the speed is the exact same every time.  one of my friends could only land sketchy 3's at the end of last season, and he gets to ride snowflex alot because he goes to school near there.  last time i went, this kid stomped a 9.  pretty sick progression without ever touching snow

That's a 10 foot by 10 foot square or a 5 by 20 foot.  You might be able to get a drop in and ski out with that.  Snowflex was really expensive even before the dollar tanked.  Buying it now would pretty much cost you your first born child.  For those that are seriously thinking about buying some dry slope material, I highly recommend that you check out this sight and look at the different products and manufacturers.  Some have US presences so they are less expensive.

i live here in VA too. the skiing isn't bad. wintergreen is the best in VA for sure. decent amount of terrain and vert for a mountain in the southeast. it's nothing like out west obviously but it's not bad for where it is. freeride team is great. i'm on it. we got a new park builder last year who is really good and we're building quite a few new rails and re doing a bunch of the old ones for this year. message me if you want to shred this winter.

from what i have seen..they cover the snowflex with real snow when possible

that gives you 3 perfectly shaped booters up to like 40ft or something? Large quarter pipe, and a hand full of jibs. All serviced by a rope tow, aka continous lapping. Not bad for va eh? Enjoy it! :) I need to road trip back down there soon.

no actual jumps though? i just cant stop thinking of it as a "glorified backyard dryslope". Do they have any rope/carpet tow going? all the recent edits i have seen..people were hiking.

thats the only reason i havent been..and its closer to me!

snowflex's jumps are just prime...jibs are pretty large...way more of a real mountain/terrain park feel..laps for days..$7/hour

they have a magic carpet you can ride to the top of the hill, most kids just hike one feature at a time though. i know its nowhere near as sick as liberty snowflex, but its worth the 1.5 hour drive there. and it is only $5 for a whole day. its still fun, i would never choose to go there over liberty though. but liberty is like 9 hours away from new england...
