I had Salomon SPK's (the original model). They were good for park and shit for everything else. They're just foot buckets, didn't really hold my feet in place. My heels never stayed down. No shin bang though.
I tested the Il Moro some time ago (at an expo, so no skiing) and it actually feels like a real boot. The flex feels way better than the SPK's and it feels like I could do some real skiing with them too. I love the buckles that hold my heels in place. Also the liner is super comfortable.
I actually liked the Il Moros so much that I bought them.
