Hitting rails three months post acl % miniscus surgery.

Went out yesterday cause i couldnt take it anymore. Dumb thing to do? how long you fellers wait.

everyone I know that's had that injury is out of commission for 6 months, the fact that you were even able to drop in and get on a rail is crazy, most everyone is still on crutches after 3 months. Maybe it depends on how bad you got injured the first time, but to be honest it doesn't seem worth the risk, cause you only got like a month or two before you can really ski - I probably would have waited.

Don't do it man. Do you want to enjoy a few days hitting preseason rails OR enjoy the rest of your life with a pretty good knee? It just isn't worth possibly ruining you season and/or your knee for your life.

i'd say bad idea. your graft and bone plugs are not healed yet. my doc told me due to the anatomy of the healing process that my graft was actually at its weakest at about 3 months. think of all you just went through and then think of going through it again. put your energy towards rehab and going to the gym

Let it heal fully, because if you wreck it now you undo all of your rehab.

i skied pow about 4 months after surgery because i couldnt stop myself. it was dumb, i paid for it in rehab. i am JUST NOW getting back to skiing hard about 10 months out of surgery. just watch refresh, go to the gym, do yoga, take a shower, sleep, repeat.

Listen to that ^^. You may feel good right now, but your new ACL is at its weakest stage. You're not even close to being good to go yet. So, yes, you're being dumb. Really dumb.

i broke my tibia in football like 2 months ago and not  being able to play killed me ill be allowed to ski in dec. when my mountain opens but only groomers.

3 months on crutches? damn. I had ACL done and I was off crutches 3 weeks after surgery.

I skied twice at like 5 months. Slid around a little at 2.5.

It's a SUPER dumb thing to do, but you are the one who knows what your body feels like, and what you can take. It's really really risky, because it takes 6(ish) months for that to heal strong enough to start using it at full capacity again, plus you don't have as much muscle so not as much support. I wouldn't make a habit of it if I were you. Take it easy.

ya i decided after reading all this and the fact my knee is sore today im done for another 2 months. I Hate going to the fucking gym.

Just do it, go to the gym, alot.

 Definetly dont ski till 6 months even if your knee feels stable and strong, the donor acl ligament gets progressively weaker in the first 2 months after surgery(this is your donor hamstring tendon dieing), then around this point begins to replace your dead hamstring donor ligament with new tissue(your new acl), it'll do that for the next 10-12 months. If you had a meniscus tear too, that just adds to the risk of wrecking your knee again.

Don't do it unless you wanna be back on the table and out for another season. Just keep hitting the gym and doing your physical therapy. I ended up having to get a second surgery on my knee because i tried to get back in the saddle too quickly.

As long as you made a full recovery, everything should be fine. However, everyone is different, go about it cautiously.

I havent done anything other than hiking and road biking in the last 9 months and i only blew my MCL.

When I had knee surgery, i was off crutches after a week and skiing in 4 months, hit small rail around 3 months. If you feel like you can do it, then go for it, its your decision. If you're getting a brace, send it after you get that. I skied moguls and did comps about 6-7 months after my surgery, went fine.
