Which rail? +k for any help!

so i know there will be alot of people saying... "Searchbar!" or "Build-a-jib cult!" well i did post this in build a jib but it gets much less traffic then ski gabber so hoped this would be ok. My friend and i are building a double barrel pvc rail, and were wondering whether it would be better to have one 16 foot rail or two seperate 8 foot rails. we thought the advantage to the two would be we could create multiple setups, but then were worried about the gap between the two. which would be better! plus karma for any good help!

The only reason why is that would comes in eight feet lengths

Go for two that way you have alot of options just make sure if the height of the rails is different at all have the shorter one second the gap shouldn't make a difference.

wood* and wood comes in 16 foot lengths to? but it depends if you want to make two seperate rails or somthing but for best preformance i would go 16

plus k for both of you! haha now im wondering if it would be better to make one rail an inch or two shorter and put it as the second one so there would be no edge catching on the gap?

you can deffinetly get wood in longer than 8 foot leangths because we are snagging this wood from a construction site that has it sitting out by the road... and it is at least a 16 foot peice.

lowes has up to 16' lumber, so it all depends where you shop. as for the OP, you probably shouldnt go all the way as to making it a couple inches lower, because that could be a problem overtime. just stick with them being the same, you shouldn't have any problems with getting over the gap, as it does not have that big of an effect

well if you want to move it anywhere, like a friends house or something two 8 footers is your best option and you can make flat downs and fun stuff, but one long one is nice for learning tricks cuz you dont have to worry about a gap messing you up

hey guys thanks for all the responses. I think we are going to go with two 8 footers just to have more options, and although this setup will mainly be for learning new tricks when not at the mountain, we are assuming that is still possible without one long solid rail.

you can get pvc in 20 foot sections. we have a pvc box and double barrel. You cant get it at home depot or lowes or whatever. You need to get it from a construction supply vendor. Serious lumberyards usually have it or can point you in the right direction.

PVC comes in 8, 10 and 12 foot sections as well, depending on where you are getting it and the size. But the 20 footers are the best no seams!

Yes, great idea, that's what I did, it works perfectly and even if its set up right next to each other its more fun than a flat rail because of the drop. If you get what I am trying to say here

I make the two rails. Really long rails are a pain in the ass. Like moving them and such. I have an 8 footer and its just fine, plus with the two 8 footers you can change up the setup a little bit or mix thing up by adding something new. And if you really want a 16 foot just put the things together.

Just make the two rails the same height.  I have a 14 foot rail, so I had to attach 4 extra feet of pvc to the end and its not completely even and I don't catch at all.  But also why wouldn't you make two ten footers?  Pvc comes in 10 feet so that would probably be easier...

we know that an 8-10 foot rail is short but the idea was we could put them together to form one flat 16-20 foot rail, OR we could have a F-D, D-F...ect.

I have two 12ft dbl barrel pvc rails and I can put them in up down etc position, 16 ft is too short imo

depends on how much speed you have and the contour of your yard.

flat yard=flat rail=not as much speed=almost impossible to travel 20ft.

hill in yard=some downward angle=angled rail=more speed=possible to travel 20ft.

I just built a nice rail but what i did was a 10 foot section and a 5 foot section as an addition, and the gap is no problem at all, but if youre worried just lower the second rail like half an inch if you build two

Storage and transportation of two rails is much easier than one giant one, so +1 for two separate rails.
