School Problems

I was absent one day this year, and I messed up (I know it is my fault) and didn't get a note in on time to the attendence office.  So they are considering it an unexcused absence and are not willing to reverse it.  This means that I have a 0 on an 80 point test that I made sure I made up.  My parents called the school, and it is coming down to emailing the teacher. 

This is where I need to know what to do.  Should I email the teacher and risk that she will say no or not do anything and hope that she doesn't notice my unexcused absence when putting in my grade for this marking period?

NS is going to give you a bunch of random answers that aren't going to help you. How on Earth can we know the attentiveness of your teacher or the policies that are enforced by your school?

Do the responsible thing and go up to your teacher and tell him/her the situation. If they aren't willing to accept your parents word that you had a legitimate reason to be out of school then either:

a) the teacher is a complete asshole and will probably check every attendance record because he/she sucks like that.

b) you are a shitty student and have a habit of fucking around and the teacher just doesn't believe you and doesn't care enough to investigate further.

If you're making a thread on this I doubt you're one of those kids, but bear in mind the large portion of the answers you get will probably be from kids like that.

So just go up to your teacher and don't deal with the administration. That's when things get complicated because they really can't do things on an individual basis. The instructor has a little more leniency on matters such as the situation you're in now.

Yeahh i would def tell the teacher what happend unless if its one of those teachers that doesnt accept any excuse then i wouldnt tell nothing

most universitys in canada now need like 85 averages in grade 11 and 12 to get into the school....

In highschool I missed a physics test with an unexcused absence. My mother contacted my teacher directly.

The problem with making up a test is that everyone has already taken it.

I made an agreement with my teacher to take the test at no credit to prove I knew the material. Then to make up the score, I wrote a 6 page essay on Nikola Tesla.

It ended up being a lot more work than anyone else had to do, but because of that it proved to the teacher that I was serious about my grade in the course.
