i admit i do it. gets you on the hill few times a week, and helps your all around skiing.

since i was 8, been on the varsity slalom team since 7th grade, mvp since freshman year, im a senior now and its my 2nd year as capitan. Got 25th at state last year as well. Honestly I love skiing in all forms, racings always been fun, especially if you dont take it too seriously, we have a fun team, most guys also do freestyle as well...oh and 2 girls as well. The best part of last season was doin dumonts(not dub) and cork 9s in between runs at state with all my race shit on...the ussa guys shit their pants.

I raced from when I was 7 and stopped my after my sophomore year of high school (I'm a senior now)

It was really fun, but it got too competitive for me because I wasn't at a ski academy.  I always enjoyed the times when we could freeski, though.

I raced till i was 15 got my GS points down to low 70's before i got fed up with it, ditched the sponsorship, and started doing things my own way.

did it in high school for the same reason, bus took me to the hill after school and all the kids on the team were homies so it was a good time. raced on twins though never actually tried just did it for a fun weekday activity.

you tool, 15 is first year j2...if you had 70 points as a first year 2, you would be the single top gs prospect.  thats such bs, 70 points at 15 is basically imposable

it also really helped my skiing, no regrets

gave me a better stance and got my hands more forward so i can ski a lot faster now with better control and dig the fuck into the snow, makes skiing a lot more fun

I really think racing is the only reason that i am a good skier. It makes your foundation from everything to park and big mountain so much better. The Newschoolers who raced as kids are leaps and bounds ahead of other skiers.

i raced till i was a second year j2. and was attending WVA, anyone who lives on the east coast knows about it. and its not impossible, not hard to do at all, spend your entire life ski racing, your bound to get some lucky low penalty races, you just need to pick em right and not fall.

and edit on that would be the low 80's i typed it pretty fast missed the typo, my bad (go ahead and claim me for lying more please).

well i go to Stratton Mountain School on southern VT which is a very competitive ski academy on the east and ive never heard of WVA. and for the dude who said low 70s when your 15 is not impossible. last winter my USSA gs points were 77 and i was 15 (BTW im not bragging just proving points) and i was ranked top 15 on the east for my age. so 1) he would not be the top "prospect" and 2) its believable he had low 80's as a 15 year old. (this is to the guy who didnt believe you Nicota)

but yeah i go to a ski academy for racing and i get to do what i love every day in the winter and its sick. hard fucking work but awesome. i love racing but i would never be able to completely give up park skiing for racing. i cant have one without the other. and of course i ski pow when we get it. but racing is pretty much my life and i wouldnt change anything.

racing is great. and to the people who hate on racing you really cannot seriously say that going 75 mph off of a jump and going 150 feet is bitchy. i completely understand hate on racers because some are complete d-bags but a lot of them are cool kids who work all summer to pay for ski equipment just like a freeskier does because thats what they love to do.

i know about wva...i think you guys sent someone to the d team maybe once.  Since you're such an experienced racer, you don't need me to tell you that first year j2=15 years old.  I'm not saying you lied intentionally, but you were nonchalant and showoff about something that clearly wasn't true.  When you finished your first j2 season, you did not have under 100 points. 'nuff said.

My dad was the ski coach at my highschool for like 8 years up until this year, cause i decided to quit racing. I was pretty good though, i mean i really liked it but it just takes up too much of my ski time. I would rather freeski all year and maybe enter a couple races as an individual. It did help my skiing in so many ways though, not just my form but being more comfortable with my skis, and going really fast

after my first year j2 i have 93 points in GS (and i only finished 3-4 gs races that year) the names Nico Anastasia look it up, although i believe my points are somewhere in the 100's now since i haven't raced in a while. and whoever said they are from stratton and didn't know what WVA is clearly retarded, you race against kids from there in every event you go to.

And i wasn't trying to show off, just simply show the fact that i devoted a majority of my life to racing, which is what this thread is about, i didn't realize that you were going to go into hissy fits over who is better.

Waterville? Its not a very big school or well known. most people in the east actually dont know about them, because its not a full term academy and there are not many top racers that iv heard of from there. Holderness is much more well known. BUt WVA is not one that i know mmuch about or anyone knows much about in the east. Just as an fyi.

MN is the most competitive state for HS racing and 2nd or 3rd most for USSA, Buck hill has put more ppl on the US team than any other club in the nation, Gilboa is up there too like 4th i think

Srsly another one? (searchbar dude) But srsly i bet a good solid percentage race or have raced at some point, i stopped this year but now i get paid to coach racing plus i get free lift tickets so I just see racing as a way to get me out to the hill earlier and supply some cash to pay for my skiing addiction :p

But ya, racing is sick. going to KMS and skiing everyday has been one of the best experiences of my life. i wouldnt change a thing. When you finish racing you have the skills to ski anything anywhere. Its also a good way to get to ski other mtns and their parks
