I know this question has been asked a million times, but...
I want a new video camera. Right now I have a Panasonic PV-GS320. Not very good. I have about a $1,000 budget, so who can make some good suggestions? I want one that I will be able to use for a long time even if I start getting better at editing and filming and such.
I loved my Canon HV20 but if I had to buy a new one would have picked up the HV30 or HV40. They also make hard drive cams now with quality like the HV series. I sold mine to pick up a DSLR and now im debating on downgrading my camera and picking up another video cam.
Hey man. Your budget is kind of tricky. It's not quite high enough to cross over into the prosumer world, but it's higher than most consumer cameras. I went from a gs320 to a DVX100a and I learned SO much.
Here's what I recommend. Buy a Canon HV30/40 and really LEARN about it (I assume you use manual settings like WB, shutterspeed, and exposure on your gs320.) Then use the extra money on a SOLID tripod. Having a good tripod is simply the most important tool for a film maker.
