Beneath Yellowstone and its spectacular landscape of hot springs and geysers is a hot spot, an upwelling plume of melted rock from the Earth's mantle. As the plume of hot, liquid rock rises in the Earth, it melts the Earth's crust and creates large magma chambers.

'These magmas usually erupt in a very catastrophic way,' said Bindeman. 'By comparison, the eruption of Mount St. Helens sent about two cubic kilometers of ash into the atmosphere. These catastrophic types of eruptions send thousands of cubic kilometers of ash skyward.'

i read up on it. they arent even sure if it will ever erupt. they think its dying, but that it might have a hiccup or two on the way. nothing that will wipe out north america or anything.

Yeah terrorists will never ever be able to detonate and nuke in the US primarliy because they can never obtain one. Even 1 is expensive to build and very complex, a nuclear explosion is out of the question. A dirty-bomb would be more realistic but what i think is there could be a real 'plague'. a biological weapon would do a lot more damage than a nuclear weapon and would be easier to get a hold of. Somthing like smallpox or maybe a wide spread chemical dispersion would harm a lot of people.

about the volcano yeah i belive the 'hot spot' which is yellowstone is not a very explosive volcano i think it is kind of like the hawiian islands so i dont think we will have to worry about in out lifetime.

I was just thinking about this: Yes its true that terrorists would love to kill us all with their home made versions of WHAT WE HAVE! Plus if you think of how scared we are of what they can do, just think of how scared they are of what we can do to them. It is a much bigger difference. And this should also reassure all you when you remember that the weapons they are trying to use on us are all some sort of replica of what we invented and that we are very familiar with anything they could ever throw at us.

The yellowstone thing is opposite of what you said. If a volcanoe were to errupt it would actually increase global warming. The ash would get into the atmosphere and creat a cloud which would trap the heat in and magnify the it all.

Lets say that terrorists did some how obtain a nuke, how the hell would they get it over to the U.S., with a backpack? They wont be able to get their hands on any intercontinental ballsitic missles to get they warhead to the U.S. Even if they did get everything you need to send a nuke over, we still could just blast that shit out of the sky with a patriot missle or something. Not to mention, if they did attack us with a nuke or a dirty bomb, they would probably be fucked. I think that after 911 the government has more backing by americans to get away with bombing the shit out of the middle east even more so than what we have already done. The terrorists will probably contiue to do what they do best (terroize people) and probably not do any large scale bombing especially now that they know that we are not afraid to fight back. Anyways thats my two cents worth
