zoom servo is terrible
40mm wide angle is very bad.
aperture controls are wack, and are tied to the gain.
shutter speed controls in a touch menu. ugh
auto focus searches forever.
lens hood inside a lens hood. that lens barrel assembly shit is straight up recycled off a camera half the size of the 40.
low light performance is pathetic, even with high gain on. up to 32db or something.
i dont think there is a lock button to lock image control settings. the ring and the dial are easy to get bumped.
the good? good selection of frame rates and resolutions... avchd format is easy to work with in final cut 7. lots of image control
IT HAS A HANDLE!!!!!
easy bayonet lens hood was a nice touch.
i dunno. ive shot with it for like, 2 hours total so far and i hate it to death. i liked my FX7 so much more and i dont think solid state, progressive frame rates, and a few more controls make the hmc40 a better choice at that $2000 price point.
so thats my worthless 2 hour review of my new expensive toy. ill be using the hmc150 next year.
