Ok so I decided that I'm going to get the Salomon STH 12 bindings. I am an intermediate freestyle skier, weigh 150 lbs, and looking to get better. I do alot of jumps and jibs. My question is when I got to the shop to get my bindings adjusted, what exact din setting should I tell the guy to set my binding at? Is setting it at din 12 too much?
Usually the shop people have a chart and they will set it at the DIN that they see fit... Also, I don't know much about bindings, but in general you don't want to run it at the very top or bottom of the DIN range...
based on your description, i would say about 7 to 8. but DIN is so easy to change, all it takes is a screwdriver. so dont worry, test it out at 7 and if youe skis pre release then turn them up a bit yourself.
You can't tell them where to set the din. They are going to set them based on you bsl, height, weight, and ability. We cannot tell you where they should be set. Let the shop set them and ski them where they are, if you have problems, bring them back to get them looked at or slightly adjust the din but VERY small amounts. This is a disclaimer, I am not responsible for any problems based on my advice. check out the binding maintenance thread for more info.
