thats not true. If they knew it was going to melt they wouldnt make it, If they made it and and it melted they would lose a ton of profit from making a ton of snow.

High at my resort this weekend is 76. High where I live is 102. Drops down to 49 on Tuesday at my resort, but there is no way snowmaking will start anytime within the next few weeks. I don't think anywhere in CA has begun making snow yet. MAYBE Mammoth, I doubt that though.

yea sunday river is just claiming that they are making snow, it wont stay close to freezing for the next two months or long enough for that to last. Those are their new snow guns anyways, so its probably them testing them too

As has been said, they simply decided to test their system when it was cold and make some "promo-snow".

All resorts pressure test their systems in the fall to ensure there are no leaks or problems before they get too close to go time. Odds are this was their way of testing the system.

Still worth getting stoked over because it means that ski season is right around the corner.
