Obama has been making all the Libertarians go insane with his reforms. Just to let you guys know where I lean, I am a crazy liberal European who loves public healthcare things of that sort. Well, recently I have been seeing the Libertarians quoting good old Thomas Jefferson at any chance they get, yelling "The Tree of Liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." They quote this when they go to yell at healthcare town halls, and even worse when they show up there open carrying. More and more it seems like they are getting violent and terrified that their country is being taken from them. The Libertarian party has about 500k registered voters, making them a respectable force and one of the biggest alternative parties. But do you know who else was a deep believer in Libertarianism, and especially that quote?
Timothy McVeigh. That quote from Jefferson was even the slogan on his T-shirt when he was found directly after the bombing which liked 168 people. He was a registered member of the republican party, but voted for the Libertarian candidate. He is quoted on saying that he hated taxes, was a massive supporter of guns, and engaged in the same talk of tyranny and taking the country back as Libertarians are now. I am not saying that everyone who is a Libertarian is going to become a home grown terrorist, but extremism is the easiest way to go when a group of people are scared. So the question is, is it possible that the Libertarians might turn into a terrorist/"revolutionary" group?
