He is one of the last Directors still creating feature films that have the essence of art and style all over it. Sweeney Todd was amazing from a pure artistic point of view. He is ballsy and has his own style.
I guess that most of the people don't like his work due to the craziness and how different it is from regular movies - Given that I've never seen the new Charlie and the Chocolate factory because I believe it will ruin my perception of the original (which was amazing).
I have great confidence in Alice in Wonderland, and I love the style he is taking it, Dark and weird.
What I'm trying to say is that you can't look at Burton's films the same as regular films, he isn't like James Cameron (the guy who directed Titanic) who creates movies that appeal to the regular casual movie watcher.
so true - he actually uses art directors, costume, set & lighting designers and a whole slew of other creative people and uses that to create amazing visual worlds without relying 100% on CGI. Not saying that other directors don't produce works that look good but Burton has his own style, there's a richness and depth to his work that you don't see that often anymore.
Plus Christmas wouldn't be Christmas at my house without Nightmare.....
I support this thread.
I thought nightmare befroe christmas was one of the most haggard movies i'd ever seen, and ended my tim burton films there.
