So my computer is being reallly gay cuz somehow this shitty program Nortel got installed and i cant get rid of it. When i go to uninstall programs it doesnt show up and it causes alot of annoying pop ups about viruses and is fuckin my computer up. Help please / + k
just make sure the back-ups you have of your data right now are up-to date (so you won't lose anything). It also doesn't hurt to make a second copy of your current back-up just so that you aren't relying on the one while you are doing the re-install process.
as long as their data is backed up fine there is no risk what so ever of reformatting. Worst comes to worst you mess up the re-install process and have to re-do it. It is probably one of the easiest things to do. But yeah never hurts to have a friend there to lend a hand.
Here's an actual solution, or at least a plausible one.
I had some junk programs on my desktop earlier and here is something to try.
anti-spyware programs (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html) I forget what I used but I've heard nothing but good things about this
removal tools are pretty much useless nowadays. I mean they don't hurt, and you should have an AV/AS program installed, but once you know you have been infected, removing them is never 100%. The only safe alternative is to format and re-install.
I don't understand the thread creator. The only files you have that are of any importance are music? You have no photos, documents (a resume maybe?), video, contacts, calendars, etc etc etc? And it sounds like you currently have no back-up at all which is sketchy to begin with.
