Yo, i hit up Highlands whenever im with my dad, when its me and my bro and my dad we will hit up Mountain. So i go Mountain about 4 times a year and highlands like 12 times a year. And Cannonsburg about 10 times a year. Crystal averages about once a year, and Caberfae about once or twice a year.
sick man..i ride mountain most of the time...but the highlands is way better.. they should deff take the super pipe down at the mountain..it gets wayy to icy for me to ride it.
Yah but that superpipe is mad sick. and then idk what they would put in the place for it lol? i guess just 2 more big booters like at the bottom because mountain is lacking in jumps. I guess all michigan is tho lol. But the top of the superpipe makes a good run in for the kickers at the bottom.
yea dude..when it gets slushy you have to like bomb drop from the gate just to clear the jump..they should also not groom the park as often it gets all icy. i am stoked for winter!
I work in Grand Rapids, live in Grand Haven, go to school in Muskegon.
I ski at Cannonsburg before work on Mon-Wed-Friday all the time. They have a nice terrain park for the size of the hill, and lift lines on mon-wed-friday are non-existant.
Last year I hitup all the places, Caberfae, Crystal, Highlands / Mountain, Shanty Creek (Schuss / Summit), Bittersweet, that even smaller hill right by Bittersweet, and Nubs Nob of course.
Crystal seemed to be like gaper mountain. I didn't check out the terrain park that much at the time though due to a wrist injury, but the lift lines were pretty big.
Caberfae, two boring hills with no terrain park really. Cheap $9 sunday skiing passes, but the lift lines at this rather meh hill make it not worth going to.
Shanty Creek...they have some $10 skiing days, and $17.99 passes on liftopia that make visiting there not too costly. I like the lift capacity of Boyne Mountain, Nubs Nob, and Shanty Creek the most.
In the forseeable future I am going to be moving to Kalamazoo so I might be switching to riding at Bittersweet all the time.
In a nutshell though I paln on skiing Boyne Mountain as much as possible on the weekends this ski season, and Cannonsburg or Bittersweet during the week days, depending on what city I am working out of.
Highlands is pretty meh if you ask me. I think you have to trek around too much. You are cross country skiing all over, and Nubs Nob is right across the street with way better...everything.
lol, funny...i go to school right by Grand Rapids, have a cottage in Spring Lake, and live in Muskegon.
But yah bittersweets terrain park is pretty dope, and Cannonsburg is just plain fun to hit up with friends and be on the terrain park all day. Crystals terrain park has some pretty difficult shit, but yah a lot of gapers there. If you ever go to Pando you will see some SICK shit being thrown down, but mostly by snowboarders. But it sounds like ill be seeing you up at boyne during the weekends and mabye Cannonsburg after school possibly on the week days? Ill add you.
My poor friends go there, keep in mind all my friends are all snowboarders so if i ever sesh with you guys i will either be with some really good snowboarders, or some shitty snowboarders...never another skier lol. But ill most likely hit up Mulligans some time this year....If any newschoolers are there and none of my friends wanna sesh with me ill definetly be there.
Asian, yeah we still need to hang out once yuo get some fuzz on your nuts. Just kiddin.

If you locals know anyone looking for a boat I am selling my Seadoo jetboat for skiing money. I need to go to SL,UT, and Whistler this winter!
Mulligans...psssh :). Do they have season passes though for dirt cheap?
We should seriously consider car pooling though up north. Asian living in Spring Lake, and Smoky living in Muskegon. I literally drive by you guys everytime I go to Boyne.
hell yah dude, i get frequent skier passes and i think that u guys could get in cheaper if you go with me, but my car only gets 14 MPG so we arnt gonna take mine lol, ill give you gas money tho.
I have an Alero that gets like 28mpg on the highway. Its pretty decent, but no ski rack. Winter tires get the job done, but currently we can only hold 3 people because we have to fold a seat down in the rear to let the skis stick out.
and yeah Asian your best thing to do if your parents trip like that is to say you met me at Mulligans.
Boyne Mountain though....thats where the fun is. It is like 3.5-4 hours away, and its got everything. Or I should say, everything that you could hope for in a Michigan ski hill. Then the 6 person high speed lift to the terrain park....doesn't get any better.
This weekends weather has made me go damn, only another 35 degrees to go and we could have some snow......
Haha, alright well your car sounds good. Yah, boyne mountains terrain park isnt madly steep like the Highlands is, and so many different rails, they just need more jumps. And i know, the leaves are changing colors...its starting to get closer.
oh yah i heard some people talkin about Timber Ridge at the Grand Rapids Rail Jam this year...i dont even know where that place is...how does it compare to the other hills round here?
Timber Ridge is probably the smallest hill I have been to in Michigan. I only went there because I bought a goskimichigan pass and I had a free pass there to use and I was already at Bittersweet.
Yeaaaah I might be moving to Kzoo here myself, I have a job lined up there this October, and I will be at WMU this winter I do believe.....
I wouldn't go to Timber Ridge unless you had to.....
At a pretty big technology company in Kzoo. I don't want to name names online. They do a good job scouring the net, and it will be a job I can afford to live on my own at. So I don't want to fuck it up.
I will be living there by January though. I was thinking of trying to do ski patrol at Cburg and Bittersweet so I can ski for free and work.
I'm also like 4+ hours away from Boyne so I only get to go there a few times a year if I'm lucky. Otherwise, I just ski at Mt. Holly whenever I'm home from school or on break. There's nowhere to ski around East Lansing, it sucks.
I've been to Brighton once and I couldn't stand it. Ridiculously long lift lines for such a shitty hill. I'll have to check out Alpine this year though.
Used too. Moved to florida two years ago. Used to pretty much live there, mostly for racing though. The park was always pretty much shit untill probably these last couple years it got a little better. But of course once its decent, I only get about ten days a year at Alpine.
hey whats your name? i worked at the burg last year giving lessons here and there but i was there 3 days a week at least. i go to gv for school so i was forced to move my main ski hill down there. but over christmas break i ski at schuss or the boynes regularly
