"Oh no, not another torrent thread!"

Now that I have said it myself, all you haters can promptly shut the fuck up.

On to business...

For the last handful of years, I have been quite the downloader. Games, movies, every program that I need, all for free and all obtained through torrents. I had always been careful too, with a solid torrent program, a nice block... the typical things that an experienced torrenter has to use.

After 5 years and billions of bytes stolen, I got a phonecall this morning form the phone company. I bet you can all guess what it was about, but for those who are clueless, it was about them catching me downloading 'The Hangover'. I am kinda pissed that this stupid movie is what sunk me, because it was shitty quality, and an overall shitty movie.

He threw some words around like 'Copyright Infringement' and '$250,000 Fine' and the usual bullshit that we all know about, and they said that if they caught anymore torrent traffic on my line they would revoke our DSL and fine me or something.

I know this isn't serious in any way really, but I have no choice but to stop downloading things...which makes me really pissed.

So, just be careful out there NS, I know everyone thinks they are a badass torrenter and all that, but don't think that you cannot get caught.

If you used private trackers (excluding Demonoid and Torrentleech), this thread wouldn't have ever been made.

my friend got a letter from verizon
then he got a second letter saying that if he did it again, it would be like a $250,000 fine or something

I have downloaded 12,000+ songs and lots of programs and movies, and have never gotten caught

you just have to avoid torrents that are being tracked. or use peerguardian.

this usually only happens if you seed a file for an extended period of time. I know of someone who got pinched for seeding photoshop for 2 weeks.

yeah most ISP's only watch college students who are uploading more than 400GB a month, which is fucking retarded anyways. and as far as public trackers go, sites where there are comments under the torrents (like tpb) will usually have at least a couple of comments that point out when a torrent is being tracked by the authorities. if that's the case, i just move on to another torrent, or use pg2 if there are no other good torrents.

anyone have a good link for final cut pro? i can't seem to download a good one, or maybe it's that i don't know how to run it

do the first one on thepiratebay.org, follow the directions VERY carefully, read some of the comments for troubleshooting. i did it a few weeks ago and it works perfectly

leopard. i know there are a few versions, but i have the one on the newest macbook pro's. but i'm pretty sure it works with any OS X

Im in Canada and about 2 years ago my brother got caught downloading movies from the interwebz. Internet provider contacted our house and gave the same warning as above.

you just have to be careful with new and popular movies and albums...the older and obscure/underground ones are usually safe cause the feds arent going to waste their time monitoring those
