Why Does NS Lack...

...Basic forum qualities. 

Web addresses should automatically be hotlinked.

.gif pictures should play in-thread.

We should be able to edit posts.

I know these have been talked about, and I know there are more things missing, so I just need an answer.

Why does NS lack basic forum qualities?

i hate how everyone says that....... because ns would be sooooooooooooooooo different if it played gifs w/o clicking them and automatically hot linked links.....

Links are automatic if you use non-fancy GUI editor.

I don't like the idea of .gifs being playable and editing posts is just a bad idea.

Well I honestly don't get any tingly, warm, or fuzzy "This is why I go on NS" feelings when I have to use the stupidest way of posting links, and having to click on .gif pictures.  That's like saying "I like Christmas because Santa breaks my legs and kills my cats every year".

I understand the editing argument, but it would be a good move to enable editing in BST for obvious reasons.

i think maybe having the option to delete a thread or a post yourself would be useful. aside from that, ns is the only forum i can stand using. it's straight up, and looks good too.

editing posts would just get confusing, and ruin threads like the faunt got bigger etc. shouldnt happen



the other two i agree. this is probably the only forum ive ever been too where .gif doesnt work (for that matter, why doesnt .png work either....)


and yeah, linking is a disaster.

Absolutely agreed.

I can get behind the .gif issue, but I have no desire to give regular members the ability to edit their posts.

I feel that NS moves too fast for an edit function to be a good thing. I see how it works on some smaller or more slower moving forums but I just don't see it being all that beneficial to a fast-paced forum like NS.

And piling on even more crap that us mods would need to watch for is just going to further reduce quality in other areas of the site.

I think not having an edit feature is fine, with the exception of the B/S/T forum. There it is absolutely necessary. Too many times have I seen people put endless effort into displaying pictures and have missed a CHARACTER and everything gone to shit. Needless to say it would also be useful for updating prices/offers.. instead of posting them way at the bottom of the thread where most people don't venture.
