Who's your God

preface: lets open the mighty gates to the cosmos and mythology. Consider the great list of all the religions that have existed, think of all the stories that have been told throughout the aeons, spanning all cultures... really give this one some thought.

who do you choose?

lets break it down a bit: the general options you've got are:

Cosmos Gods (sun, moon, sky, day, night, creator...)
Chthonic Gods ( earth, water, weather, underworld...)
Human-sphere Gods (War, justice, peace, love...)

I'll allow demi-gods too, but you've got to admit your imagination could use some work...

pretty much, but asides from the skiing association, what's the pull? Ullr was what a hunting god? (**note** god of dualing and agriculture).  He travels around on skis, so he get's credit in my book. Plus he's a promiscuous guy... not a bad choice

I go for thor myself. something about a thunderstorm gains my respect and awe.

Hinduism is too complicated. Plus, you have to subscribe to a specific god (ganesh, shiva, brahma etc.)

Jainism in all seriousness would be sweet.

you guys are lame as shit, this isn't a thread of faith, it's a thread of imagination.

i'd say i also dig Anubis, after you die, he weighs your heart to determine whether you live forever or you get fed to a crocodile demon ammit. This is the origin of being heavy or light hearted. a light heart, lighter than the feather of Ma'at meant you live forever, and a heart, heavier, well you were croc food.

to all the lame-o's saying atheist.....we get it.  it's a creative thread to come up with wild, fun gods, not to claim faith (or lack thereof).  we have plenty of those...buzz off.

anyway, i'll go with anubis, an egyptian god of afterlife who apparently has the head of a jackal and the body of Georges St. Pierre.  sick.

Cthulhu vs Poseidon

who wins? Does Poseidon have power over Cthulhu in virtue of being the god of the sea? I mean the way I see it, Poseidon's trident gets snapped in half by one of cthulhu's tentacles, and it's really no contest. But perhaps Poseidon wins on technicality.

My god is sort of just a vauge inexplicable mystical force that ties everything and everyone in the universe together.  Its sort of like a mix of Buddhism and The Force.  But it doesn't give me telekenetic powers though which is pretty lame.
